Moreover, 2D/2D van der Waals (vdws) heterostructuresn(HSs) with face-to-face contact can construct a highly coupled interfacenand are demonstrated to have immense potential for catalytic applications.nIn the present work, a 2D/2D hetero-layered architecture of an electrocatalyst,nbased on the alternate arrangement of ultrasmall monolayer MoS<sub>2</sub> nanosheets (approximately 5–10 nm) and ultrathin graphenen(G) sheets, is prepared by a facilely chemical process, which is namednas MoS<sub>2</sub>/G HS. The unique structural characteristic of MoS<sub>2</sub>/G HS is in favor of accommodating more active sites as thencenters of ad/desorption hydrogen and transferring and separatingnthe charges at a coupled interface to improve the electronic conductivitynand durability. The density functional theory calculation resultsnfurther confirm that the alternately arranged G layers and MoS<sub>2</sub> monolayers, as well as the expanded interplanar distancenof 1.104 nm for MoS<sub>2</sub>/G HS, can exhibit a superior HER performancenin both 0.5 M H<sub>2</sub>SO<sub>4</sub> and 1.0 M KOH.","PeriodicalId":523715,"journal":{"name":"Figshare","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147920643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
