Homologous recombination representsna precise, DNA-template-based mechanism available during the S andnG2 cell cycle phase, whereas non-homologous end joining, which requiresnDNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK), allows for fast, cell cycle-independentnbut less accurate DNA repair.
