However, poor osteogenic capacity of CPC stillnlimits its applications for meeting the demands of bone healing. Innthis work, chondroitin sulfate (CS), as an important component ofnthe extracellular matrix network, was introduced into CPC to enhancenits osteogenesis ability. Incorporation of CS had no evident effectnon the phase, morphology, apparent porosity, and compressive strengthnof hydrated cement products, but it notably enhanced the injectabilitynand improved the antiwashout property of the cement pastes. CS wasnable to be sustainably released from CS-CPCs in a CS-dose-dependentnmanner and supposed to have a long-term release potential for constantnbiological stimulation. CS-CPCs markedly accelerated the preferentialnadsorption of fibronectin. Furthermore, CS-CPCs significantly improvednthe adhesion, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation of bonenmesenchymal stem cells, which was synergistically mediated by thenadhesion events of cells on the hydrated cements and the stimulationneffects of CS molecules. Herein, utilization of CS is supposed tonendow injectable calcium phosphate bone cements with enhanced osteogenicncapacity and suitable physicochemical properties for numerous promisingnorthopedic applications.","PeriodicalId":522813,"journal":{"name":"Figshare","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147904167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
