The precise and flow-rate insensitive DLDnsorter with triangular posts serves as the second stage sorter whichnfurther removes the residual blood cells for obtaining high-purityntumor cells. After demonstrating the conceptual design, we characterizenthe performances of our two-stage i-DLD sorter for the separationnof differently sized particles and cells. The characterization resultsnshow that a 100% complete separation of 15 and 7 μm particlesnwas achieved, whereas a separation efficiency of over 99.9% and antarget sample purity of 93.59% was realized for the separation ofndifferently sized cells. Finally, we successfully apply our sorternfor the separation of rare tumor cells from the diluted whole bloodnor WBCs at good performances. Our two-stage i-DLD sorter offers numerousnadvantages of label- and external field-free operation, high-efficiencynand high-reliability separation, and high-throughput processing withoutnclogging, and is promising as a potential tool for precise cell separationnin low-resource settings.","PeriodicalId":522415,"journal":{"name":"Figshare","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147896698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
