Photocatalytic Cr(VI) reductionnis the most suitable and eco-friendly way to convert the toxic Cr(VI)nto environmentally friendly Cr(III). Porous metal–organic frameworksn(MOFs) based nanocomposites are emerging green photocatalysts fornCr(VI) reduction due to their unique characteristics such as highnphotoconductivity, large surface area, and suitable porous structure.nHerein, the preparation of ultrathin BiOCl sheets over UiO-66-NH<sub>2</sub> is reported for the first time at room temperature via ansimplistic in situ synthetic process to yield a series of UiO-66-NH<sub>2</sub>@BiOCl-UTN’s heterogeneous nano composites. The activityntoward Cr(VI) reduction was tested under visible-light. UiO-66-NH<sub>2</sub>@BiOCl-UTN’s heterogeneous nanocomposites exhibitednbetter performance as equated to individual BiOCl and UiO-66-NH<sub>2</sub>, particularly the composite with Bi<sup>3+</sup> mole rationof 5 mM surpassed other composites for photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction.nFurthermore, boosted visible-light absorption (λ > 420 nm)nwasnobserved in the presence of −NH<sub>2</sub> moiety on the organicnlinker. The excellent photocatalytic activity was attributed to thensynergistic effect between BiOCl and UiO-66-NH<sub>2</sub> for theneffective separation of photogenerated electron–hole suppressingntheir recombination. Through active species trapping experiments,nelectron spin resonance measurements, and electrochemical analysis,nthe reliable mechanism was predicted and confirmed. Moreover, heterogeneousnnanomaterial retained its structure and activity for four consecutivencycles demonstrating its superior stability.","PeriodicalId":521806,"journal":{"name":"Figshare","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147886061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
