In contrast, QAL exhibitedninsolubility and formed particles in neutral solutions, thereby makingnit a suitable candidate for utilization as an emulsifier in doublynpH-responsive Pickering emulsions. At pH 5–9, the emulsionsnwere stable. Above or below this pH range, the system demulsifies,nresulting in a reversible Pickering emulsifier with two pH-controlledntransitions. On the basis of this pH-dependent behavior, lignin-basednPickering emulsions (LPE) could be subjected to several cycles ofnemulsification–demulsification by alternating the pH of thenaqueous phase between basic and acidic, while the droplet size andnstorage stability were maintained. Curcumin was used as a drug modelnto study the loading/release behavior of LPE, finding that 50.08%nof curcumin could be encapsulated in LPE. The in vitro release of curcumin was pH-dependent. In addition, LPE exhibitednan outstanding protective effect against the ultraviolet-induced degradationnof curcumin.","PeriodicalId":521496,"journal":{"name":"Figshare","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147880153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
