{"title":"Analysis of the Implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Social Studies Subjects in Elementary Schools","authors":"Ewa Ardiansyah, Ratnah Ratnah","doi":"10.59923/council.v2i1.60","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.59923/council.v2i1.60","url":null,"abstract":"The objectives of this study are: 1) to determine the role of teachers in teaching Social Studies using the Merdeka curriculum; 2) to identify the challenges faced by teachers in teaching Social Studies using the Merdeka curriculum. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, where the data consists of observations and direct interviews with field experts. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The sample selection for the study is purposively determined based on the expertise of the informants in providing necessary information to the researcher. Data analysis involves three steps: data reduction/selection, data interpretation, and conclusion drawing. Islamic religious education serves as the primary foundation, guiding the pursuit of truth, and becomes an essential need for Indonesian society. This research aims to explore character formation through Islamic religious education in the era of Generation Zet. The research method employed is qualitative, focusing on the analysis of literature sources such as books, research journals, and seminar proceedings. From the literature review, it is evident that character education through Islamic religious education is rooted in religious values, Pancasila, culture, and the goals of national education.
