Forty-four experiments were carried out from November 2016 to March 2019, encompassing wet, dry, and winter seasons, across the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais and Paraná. Five plant populations established at sowing (12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 plants m⁻²) were compared in a randomized block design with four replications, using the cultivars BRS FC310, BRS FC409, and BRSMG Uai. Across winter season experiments, the BRS FC310 cultivar consistently displayed higher yield than the others at all plant populations. In contrast, the BRSMG Uai cultivar exhibited the highest yield during the wet season. The maximum grain yields of the three cultivars were higher in the wet than in the winter season and obtained with higher plant populations. Cultivars BRS FC310, BRS FC409, and BRSMG Uai maximized grain yield with, respectively, 28.4, 25.4, and 26.2 plants m⁻² at harvest time in the wet season, and 20.4, 14.0, and 15.2 plants m⁻² in the winter season.","PeriodicalId":514876,"journal":{"name":"Colloquim Agrariae","volume":"44 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141644958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chronic kidney disease is characterized by irreversible structural damage, which progresses progressively to uremia and renal failure. To establish clinical manifestations, IRIS (International Renal Interest Society) developed a guide for classifying the disease into 4 stages based on serum creatinine levels, proteinuria, clinical manifestations of disease progression. The present study aimed to make a retrospective study of the occurrence of chronic renal failure in the veterinary hospital of the Universidade do Oeste Paulista, campus of Presidente Prudente SP. Thus, a survey was carried out of the general registration data of patients seen in the years 2018 and 2019. Information on age, gender, anamnesis, blood count, serum biochemical tests and ultrasound examinations were obtained from the medical records. The patients were classified according to the stage of the disease, of the 217 files analyzed, 85 were in stage I, 18 in stage II, 46 in stage III and 47 in stage IV, a higher prevalence of cases was observed in animals over 9 years old deity. In addition, it was possible, through the evaluation of the records, to verify the importance of implementing a care and follow-up form for patients with suspected/diagnosed chronic kidney disease and thus be able to qualitatively evaluate routine cases.","PeriodicalId":514876,"journal":{"name":"Colloquim Agrariae","volume":"30 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140656344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Strategies to reduce production loss due, for example, to pest attacks are increasingly required. Spodoptera frugiperda, known as fall armyworm, causes irreversible damage to cotton. In this context, a current approach is the use of hyperspectral measurements obtained by remote sensors and processed by machine learning algorithms. However, such measures generate data redundancy, making it difficult to extract information. An alternative is to apply pre-processing techniques, but little is known about the impact these generate on the learning ability of algorithms. This study evaluates the performance of machine learning algorithms in identifying cotton plants attacked by pests using pre-processed and raw hyperspectral measurements. Data are collected by EMBRAPA, and consist of hyperspectral measurements, in the range of 350-2500 nm, referring to eight days of collections in healthy cotton plants and attacked by S. frugiperda. Pre-processing techniques to try are baseline removal, smoothing, first and second order derivatives. A group of machine learning algorithms, such as Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, Extra Tree, was used to model pre-processed and non-pre-processed hyperspectral measurements. According to the proposed metric, the F-Score and the Extra Trees (ExT) algorithm performed better (0.77). So it overlapped the other results with the preprocessed dataset. In addition to obtaining the most important lengths for the algorithm to have its best performance. Concluding that machine learning with spectroscopy can help the field in a promising way. Studies in other crops and with other factors applied to the plant are recommended.","PeriodicalId":514876,"journal":{"name":"Colloquim Agrariae","volume":"283 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140703973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although GolS genes have been characterized in several important species, their characterization in sweet potatoes has yet to be explored. Ipomoea trifida (Kunth) G. Don (2n = 2x = 30) is currently described as one of the closest ancestors of the sweet potato and considered an excellent crossbreeding species, allowing the introgression of important genes such as GolS. This study aimed to identify and characterize in silico the GolS genes in I. trifida and compare with I. triloba. We identified nine GolS genes, five in I. triloba and four in I. trifida. Our study encompassed various aspects, including gene structure analysis, motif identification, chromosomal distribution, synteny analysis, and gene expression. The presence of gene duplications and purifying selection were highlighted, suggesting the evolutionary significance of GolS genes in these species. Phylogenetic analysis categorized GolS proteins into three groups, potentially reflecting distinct functional roles. Furthermore, synteny analysis revealed orthologous relationships between GolS genes in the studied species and related plants, contributing to our understanding of their evolutionary history. In silico expression analysis across diverse tissues unveiled tissue-specific expression patterns, hinting at specialized roles for GolS genes in different plant organs. These findings contribute to the broader field of plant genetics, carbohydrate metabolism, and agriculture, offering opportunities for crop improvement and sustainable food production.","PeriodicalId":514876,"journal":{"name":"Colloquim Agrariae","volume":"7 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140258208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiments were conducted in the Teaching Garden of the Federal University of Ceará, evaluating five bean genotypes. A randomized block design with three and five replications was used for experiments 1 and 2, respectively. Each experimental unit consisted of a 9.6 m seedbed. In the first experiment, the spacing adopted was 0.1 x 0.4 m (24 plants per plot). For the second experiment, the spacing adopted was 0.1 x 0.3 m (32 plants per plot). Phenological characterization was carried out, estimating the thermal requirement and the pod growth curve. The evaluated genotypes presented thermal requirements ranging between 1,282 and 2,111 °C per day. The Habichuela genotype presented shorter cycle length, lower degree-day accumulation and higher initial pod growth compared to the others. It is recommended to harvest Feijão Vagem do Panamá (FVP), Habichuela and De Metro between the 10th and 15th day after fruiting. For Pronto Alívio and Quiura Bejuco, the harvest should be conducted at the 20th day after fruiting.","PeriodicalId":514876,"journal":{"name":"Colloquim Agrariae","volume":"29 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140436022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
