The series is composed of six classical stories of fairy tales inspired by the Brothers Grimm stories, from Cinderella to Little Red Riding Hood, from Hansel and Gretel to the Town Musicians of Bremen. The nature of the variations in the series does not come from the transfer of the stories as they are, but rather from certain changes in their content. The shifting rendition in each episode, however, comes with what we might call “a dark twist” and poses the question of “what if” Cinderella was not depicted as a passive heroine, and the Little Riding Hood was the one that hunts the wolf? These varied questions and answers are what classify this series as the composition of anti-tales, a phenomenon that is succinctly utilised by the feminist subversions of classical misogynistic stories. A comprehensive study of all episodes would be such a vast subject for this article. Therefore, this article limits itself to the critical standing of the first episode, “Cinderella”. {"title":"Türkçedeki Zamansıl Ulaç Tümcelerinin Derlem Temelli İncelenmesi","authors":"Doğan Baydal, Emine Yarar","doi":"10.32600/huefd.1335471","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32600/huefd.1335471","url":null,"abstract":"The studies in cognitive and psycholinguistics have reported that the sentential position of converb clauses which are part of adverbial clauses is influenced by syntactic, semantic and discourse factors (Diessel, 2005, 2008; Verstraete, 2004; Wiechmann & Kerz, 2013). One of the semantic factors is the iconicity of sequence and the related iconicity principle states that linguistic structures mostly mirror the structure of conceptual order (Croft, 2003). In other words, the meaning relationships that the linguistic structures bear has an effect on the positioning of those structures. For example, the temporal meaning relationship that a construction has can have an effect on the linear structure of this construction. This study aims at investigating the positioning variations of temporal converb clauses in Turkish and at revealing whether or not it is consistent with the iconicity principle. There are several endings used as temporal converb clauses in Turkish. In the study, the following nine converb endings are analysed: -(y)IncA (when), -DığIndA (when), -DIğI zaman (when), -ken (while), -(A/I) r…-mAz (as soon as), -DIğIndAn beri (since), -mAdAn önce (before), -DIktAn sonra (after), and –DikçA (whenever). The data of the study were collected from the Turkish National Corpus (TNC) (Aksan et al., 2012) which contains 50 million words. After identifying 9000 samples of temporal converbs, these were first grouped based on the endings mentioned above. Then the data were analysed using chi-square test. The 2×3 X² analysis was employed to see the correlations between conceptual order and linear structure. The findings of the study show that temporal converb clauses in Turkish generally have a tendency to appear before the main clause. The clauses expressing priority, namely -(y)IncA (when), -DiğIndA (when), -DIğI zaman (when), -(A/I) r…-mAz (as soon as), -DIğIndAn beri (since) and -DIktAn sonra (after) and the clauses expressing simultaneity, namely, -DiğIndA (when), -DIğI zaman (when), -ken (while) and –DıkçA (whenever) are found to precede the main clauses, which is in line with iconic clause order. The converb constructions expressing posteriority, such as –DiğIndA (when), -DIğI zaman (when) and -mAdAn önce (before) appear to precede the main clause, which is not supported by the iconicity principle. Irkçılık ve sömürgecilik taraftarlığı yaptığı için eleştirilen karikatür albümlerinde örtülü ve aleni olan emperyalist ve oryantalist söylemin birçok izleri bulunmaktadır. Nietzsche’nin sanat anlayışı bağlamında Apolloncu ve Dionysosçu olmak üzere iki farklı öğreti yoluyla sanat eserlerini değerlendirmek mümkündür. 1961’de vizyona giren Tenten ve Altın Post filminin çekimleri Türkiye ve Yunanistan’da yapılmış olması nedeniyle Türk kültürünün Batı tarafından nasıl algılandığını ve Avrupa sinemasındaki Türk ve Yunan algıları arasında herhangi bir benzerlik olup olmadığını görmek açısından incelemeye değerdir. Filmin incelemesi yapılırken nitel içerik analizinin kullanılması edebiyatın disiplinlerarasılığını göstermesi bakımından önemlidir. Despite living in different decades, they showed a similar disdain for society and left behind their traditional and socially accepted lifestyles and journeyed into the wilderness with a drive fueled by their love for nature. Gradually cutting their ties to the civilized world, they turned into deterritorialized nomads, as defined by the French thinkers Deleuze and Guattari, wandering freely in the American wilderness. These journeys and their departure from society can be seen as both an anti-authoritarian attitude and a process of self-discovery in nature. Ruess and McCandless did not see nature as a place to be domesticated and dominated, but as a place to exist and become ecologically conscious nomads or, in short, eco-nomads. This article examines McCandless and Ruess as eco-nomads. As Said theorized the systematic othering done by the West towards the East he touched upon multiple aspects of this approach, one of them being the representation of the exotic. Exploring the medieval romance Kyng Alisaunder in terms of exoticism from an orientalist perspective and reflecting upon the representations of the Eastern people is the primary aim of this article. Extrapolating information based on the representations within the romance, it becomes clear to see the West is using exoticism to other the East and the Easterners while trying to create a sense of self. The examples that the romance provides are abundant in presenting the approach of the West towards the East and they provide insight into the early stages of orientalism in the contemporary sense of the concept. Ancak bu durum doksanlı yıllarla birlikte yavaş yavaş değişmeye başlamıştır. Doksanlar boyunca Beral Madra, Vasıf Kortun ve Ali Akay gibi isimler küratör olarak imza attıkları etkinliklerde göç, kimlik, bellek, küreselleşme gibi kavramları ele alan sanatçıları bir araya getirmişlerdir. Bu yıllarda toplumsal cinsiyetler arasındaki güç eşitsizliği, militarizm, kamusal ve özel alana sızan şiddet gibi konular sanatçıların çalışmalarında giderek daha sık işlenmeye başlamıştır. Öte yandan sergileme faaliyetlerinin müze, banka galerileri ve diğer özel galerilerin yanı sıra tarihi mekânlarda da yer almaya başladığı görülmektedir. Sanat ortamının yeni tanıştığı küratörlük olgusuyla birlikte Feshane, Aya İrini ve Akaretler gibi tarihi mekânlarda gerçekleştirilen sergiler sosyoloji, tarih ve felsefe gibi farklı disiplinlerle işbirliği içinde, mekân ve mimari üzerinden toplumsal belleği görünür kılmıştır. Bu çalışma kapsamında 1990’lı yıllarda İstanbul ve Ankara’da gerçekleşen karma sergilere odaklanılmıştır. {"title":"Telgrafın Tellerinde Aranan Hak: Ladik’teki Batum Muhacirlerinden İstanbul’a Telgraflar (1881-1889)","authors":"Mahir Melih Güneş","doi":"10.32600/huefd.1363041","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32600/huefd.1363041","url":null,"abstract":"Bu makale, 1877-1878 Osmanlı Rus Savaşı’ndan sonra Amasya’ya bağlı bir kaza olan Ladik’e göç etmek zorunda kalan Batum muhacirlerinin barınma, beslenme ve çalışma gibi en temel ihtiyaçlar konusundaki şikayetlerini telgrafla İstanbul’a iletmeye çalışmalarını incelemektedir. 20 hane civarında olan muhacirler, telgrafın henüz olmadığı Ladik’te, yerel otorite mercilerinde çözüm bulamadıkları sorunlarını kolektif bir biçimde Babıali’ye iletmek için bulundukları yerden ayrılarak en yakın telgraf merkezlerinin olduğu Samsun ve Amasya’ya gitmişlerdir. Bu girişim Anadolu’ya henüz 20 yıl önce girmeye başlayan telgraf teknolojisinin bir şikayet mekanizması olarak kullanılmasında kendine has bir örnek teşkil etmektedir. Osmanlı Devleti’nde gözlemlenebilen pek çok benzer örnek, telgraf teknolojilerinin hali hazırda kurulduğu, kullanımının yaygınlaşmaya başladığı coğrafyalarda tespit edilebilirken Ladik’teki muhacirlerin durumları bu bakımdan ayrışmaktadır. Ladik’i ve Ladik’e iskan ettirilen Batum muhacirlerini farklı kılan husus o dönemde Ladik’te telgraf iletişimini mümkün kılacak herhangi bir altyapı çalışmasının henüz yapılmamış olmasıdır. 1881 ve 1889 yılları arasında Muhacirin Komisyonu’na gönderilen telgraflar sayesinde devlet, Sivas Vilayet Meclisi’ne muhacirlerin şartlarında iyileştirmeler yapılmasına yönelik emirler vermiştir. Bulundukları bölgelerde Babıâli’nin uygulamaya çalıştığı reformların işleyişini gözlemleyen, suiistimalleri rapor eden, iktisadi gelişmeyi desteklemeye dönük önerilerde bulunan konsoloslar, gerekli gördüklerinde merkezkaç güçlerin merkezi devletin egemenliğine boyun eğmesini sağlamaya yönelik arabuluculuk görevi üstlenmekteydi. Bu politika doğrultusunda, hakimiyeti altındaki göçebe aşiretlerin Kayseri, Maraş ve Bozok’ta gerçekleştirdiği yağma seferlerinin söz konusu bölgelerde yol açtığı iktisadi gerilemenin önüne geçmek ve merkezi devletten bağımsız hareket eden Kozanoğulları’nı devletin egemenliği altına sokmak üzere, 1849 ve 1852 yıllarında Kayseri konsolosları Henry Suter ve James H. Skene, resmî unvanıyla Sis ve Cebel-i Kozan Kaymakamı olan Çadırcı Mehmed Ağa ile iki görüşme gerçekleştirmişlerdir.
