{"title":"Brief Notes on the European Geographical Indication Law: Among Sustainability Implications and Artificial Intelligence Applications","authors":"Federico Domenico Enrico De Silvo","doi":"10.53615/2232-5697.13.105-111","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.53615/2232-5697.13.105-111","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: Geographical indications (GIs) within the European Union are – as is known – legally protected designations highlighting unique qualities of products tied to their place of origin; accordingly, GIs can promote sustainable agricultural practices, preserve traditional knowledge and contribute to rural development, but, notwithstanding, issues in verifying and authenticating GI products persist. Grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the research examines the relevance and application of AI within the industry, particularly in response to the challenges posed by the pandemic.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: The study adopts an interpretive paradigm and employs thematic analysis to synthesise findings from various academic journals. Keywords such as ‘hotels,’ ‘tourism industry,’ ‘COVID-19,’ and ‘artificial intelligence’ are used to identify relevant literature. The methodology involves a detailed literature review and analysis to explore how AI technologies enhance operational efficiencies, service quality, and cost reductions in the hotel industry.\u0000Findings: The findings reveal that AI has become critical in adapting hotel operations to new market realities post-COVID-19. AI technologies offer innovative solutions that align with changing consumer expectations and industry standards, contributing to improved customer experiences and operational efficiency. Integrating AI into hotel management and customer service platforms is essential for the recovery and future growth of the hospitality sector.\u0000Originality/value: This study contributes to the existing literature by providing insights into the impact of AI on the hotel industry post-COVID-19. It highlights the importance of AI technologies in improving hotel customer experiences, operational efficiency, and profitability. The application of the TAM framework underscores the significance of perceived usefulness and ease of use in driving the acceptance and sustained use of AI in the hotel industry. By exploring their experiences, the study seeks to uncover the strengths and weaknesses of learnership training. The primary goal is to assess graduates’ satisfaction with the program, its impact on their employability, the practical skills acquired, and its relevance to their current employment.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: 42 participants were recruited for the study, and their demographic characteristics, including gender and age distribution, were analysed. Employing a mixed-method approach, the study aimed to gather comprehensive insights into participants’ experiences and perceptions of the agricultural learnership program.\u0000Findings: The findings revealed that 82.1% of the participants reported satisfaction with the agricultural learnership program at Owen Sitole College of Agriculture, highlighting its effectiveness in addressing the skill development needs of unemployed youth. However, only 56.1% of the graduates secured employment upon completion, indicating potential improvement in job placement outcomes. While most graduates gained practical experience in business skills, livestock management, and routine agricultural practices, some participants expressed the need for a stronger emphasis on acquiring professional and experiential skills. Based on the study’s outcomes, it is recommended that the program undergo tailored adjustments to better align with the specific needs of recipients, ensuring a more impactful and relevant agricultural skills development learnership training at Owen Sitole College.\u0000Originality/value: The insightful recommendations offered in this study have the potential to guide policymakers in making informed decisions, leading to improved outcomes for the targeted population involved in the learnership development. Taucean","doi":"10.53615/2232-5697.13.81-92","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.53615/2232-5697.13.81-92","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: The purpose of the research was to identify a feasible way to support the ethical use of AI in universities based on identifying how the AI software application ChatGPT is used in education at higher education institutions and with students in different majors.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: The research methodology consisted of the following stages: (1) a survey based on a questionnaire designed considering the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework to collect students’ opinions on the use of AI ChatGPT; (2) The results of the survey were used to design the materials of the AI Transmedia Campaign, but also to identify the best distribution channels of them; (3) After implementing the AI Transmedia Campaign, a feedback survey was developed, ascertaining the effectiveness of the approach to create an ethical behaviour towards the AI software application in general, and on AI ChatGPT, in particular.\u0000Findings: Research shows a gap in regulating the ethical use of AI applications in higher education. Thus, the AI Transmedia Campaign has been well received and appreciated by all categories of students.\u0000Originality/value: The research is international and was carried out in higher education institutions in Romania, Greece, and Slovenia (the size of the research sample, 2942, proves the scope of the study). Moreover, understanding the implications of this intersection is necessary to encourage a balanced and effective workplace. Hence, employing AI technologies in organisational structures introduces challenges such as workforce adaptation, psychological impact, and communication patterns. This research explored how AI influences organisational behaviour and communication dynamics in the modern workplace.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: This study used a mixed method to explore organisational behaviour and communication dynamics across diverse industries comprehensively. This questionnaire aimed to gather respondents’ experiences, focusing on organisational behaviour and communication dynamics. Furthermore, in-depth interviews were conducted with key stakeholders (n = 13) to obtain additional insights into goodness and trustworthiness. These interviews offered more depth and richness, providing insights into organisational settings. This mixed methodology ensured a complex understanding of the research problem, leveraging quantitative and qualitative data to enhance the analysis.\u0000Findings: The research findings revealed the pathways to how AI influences organisational behaviour and communication dynamics. Initial analysis of survey data and interviews offered insights into employee perceptions, identifying potential challenges and opportunities. One major trait emerging from data analysis is employees’ unstable levels of apprehension and enthusiasm regarding AI integration. While many view it as a mechanism for efficiency, productivity, and innovation, others indicate distress about job shifts and loss of autonomy. The population consists of all teachers employed in a private Islamic high school in one of the provinces in Indonesia. The sample size was determined to be 120 in number, selected through the area sampling technique. Data collection utilized a questionnaire featuring a Likert scale as the primary instrument.\u0000Findings: It revealed that being achievement-oriented has a direct positive impact on goal clarity. The conclusion of this study is that the achievement-oriented, approach influences the goal clarity of Islamic Private High School in one of the provinces in Indonesia.\u0000Originality/value: In light of these criteria, the observed t-value (11.11) surpasses the tabulated t-value (1.98), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). There are 214.000 responders in this research population, while with the slovin formulation a sample of 178 respondents was obtained. The Cluster Sampling technique is applied in Probability Sampling to take the sample. The first part of the paper focuses on the theoretical background, describing different tools that are used in the industry and focusing on those that are particularly useful in the field of tourism. In the second part of the paper, we wanted to examine how these insights are reflected in an actual tourist facility. \u0000Study design/methodology/approach: In order to better understand how the target group of the selected hotel behaves online and on social networks, we decided to use a quantitative research method. The data collection technique chosen was a survey questionnaire. We have chosen Slovenian-speaking guests, who benefit from the selected \"Pampering for Two\" package as our target group. This is a package aimed at couples who are the target group of the selected hotel. The survey was carried out in person, at the hotel reception, at the time of check-out, so that we were also able to get an impression of the stay itself. \u0000Findings: In the last eight years of presence in the tourism industry, and more specifically in the hotel industry, the importance of this type of marketing has become increasingly apparent every year, and in general, we have seen a rise in social networks and tourism offers on them.
