Child pornography is a crime that new communication technologies have been transforming and modifying its modus operandi. If we add to this problem the fact that parents provide their children with a mobile device at an early age, the ideal context for the creation of this virtual social phenomenon is generated. OBJECTIVE. To identify sexting as a risk factor in the dissemination of child pornography, represented by the viewing and sending of images that can be used as material for the perpetrators of this crime. METHOD. The research is quantitative, retrospective cross-sectional type, since the research data are obtained with the help of surveys. RESULTS. Of the total number of people surveyed, 30% viewed pornography involuntarily and 47% voluntarily, which meant that 77% probably viewed an intimate photo of a third person without their consent. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. The present work was compared with data related to sexting, in which INHOPE showed that 65% of respondents had sent intimate photos, while Quadrantin indicated that 37% of respondents knew someone who had also sent intimate photos, which shows that sending intimate photos represents a danger for minors and society in general.","PeriodicalId":510956,"journal":{"name":"CienciAmérica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141363156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Environmental deterioration is a matter of great concern caused in part by industrial activities, where the main impacts are generated through emissions, solid waste and polluting wastewater. OBJECTIVE. To analyze the generation and treatment of wastewater resulting from industrial operations in terms of current expenditure and investment made by manufacturing industries in Ecuador. METHOD. The numerical data are cross-sectional, for which three levels of research were covered: descriptive, correlational and explanatory. The database of the environmental economic information module in companies (ENESEM) of the year 2020 was used. RESULTS. 53.2% of Ecuadorian manufacturing industries allocated resources in current expenditures to prevent surface water pollution by reducing the release of wastewater (including wastewater collection and treatment) and only 4.5% allocated resources in investment for the treatment of this water. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. The activities that presented the highest level of correlation with current expenditure were wastewater treated, wastewater generated and the amount of water captured from natural sources. In this sense, manufacturing companies should focus their efforts on issues related to the generation and treatment of wastewater from their productive activities.","PeriodicalId":510956,"journal":{"name":"CienciAmérica","volume":"137 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141115101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

OBJECTIVE: To relate social skills and self-esteem in adolescents in the canton of Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador. METHOD: This is a quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional study in which 247 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 participated. The Social Skills (CHASSO III) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale instruments were used. RESULTS: 38.87% of the adolescents maintained a high level of self-esteem, while 78.54% of them presented an average level of social skills, the dimensions with the highest means being: facing criticism (X= 12.44), apologizing (X= 12.45) and rejecting requests (X= 12.79). The presence of a low positive correlation (0.230) between the study variables through Pearson correlation. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate statistically significant differences, that is, the higher the level of social skills, the higher the level of self-esteem and mutually. Likewise, in future research, include families to understand the assessment and influence that parents have on the personal development of their adolescent children.","PeriodicalId":510956,"journal":{"name":"CienciAmérica","volume":"25 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139528811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the exploratory and descriptive scope, quantitative systematic review studies arise, which allow the identification of characteristics of a line of research through the analysis of previous publications. This article proposes a guide for the elaboration of this type of work, in which we propose important aspects such as the formulation of research questions, the search for information in scientific databases, the statistical analysis of data, the formulation of research questions, among other important topics. The work closes by highlighting the importance of quantitative systematic review research and its contribution to the identification and description of the elements that can encompass a line of research.","PeriodicalId":510956,"journal":{"name":"CienciAmérica","volume":"14 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139383054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
