To explore the association of rationed nursing care and the level of teamwork from the perspective of nurses working in an acute care setting in Slovakia.\u0000 \u0000 Material and methods. The descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2022 and February 2023. Data collection was carried out using a set of questionnaires that involved the Basel Extent of Rationing of Nursing Care – Revised (BERNCA-R) and the Nursing Teamwork Survey (NTS) to explore the level of teamwork. The sample consisted of 206 nurses from three district hospitals from Slovakia.\u0000 \u0000 Results. The mean score of the BERNCA-R was 2.11 (SD = 0.65) and for NTS, it was 3.64 (SD = 0.35). A statistically significant association was found between rationed nursing care and the level of teamwork, more specifically, Trust (r = -0.583), Team orientation (r = -0.381), Backup (r = -0.657), Shared mental model (r = -0.768), and Team leader (r = -0.535) and the overall score of the NTS (r = -0.174).\u0000 \u0000 Conclusions. These findings underscore the importance of addressing the phenomenon of rationed nursing care among registered and practical nurses to foster better teamwork and enhance patient care outcomes in acute care settings.

The study was a prospective follow-up study. Ten acute and long-term care units in two selected hospitals participated in the study. The sample consisted of 4383 patients. This study aimed to investigate how nursing students utilised the “DiagNurse” mobile app to assess patient health conditions during their clinical apprenticeships.\u0000 \u0000 Material and methods. This prospective, quasi-experimental post-test study included a convenience sample of 62 undergraduate nursing students. In the course of the work, they utilized paper-based measurement scales (first measurement) and the mobile app (second measurement) to assess patient health conditions during clinical practice. In total, 432 clinical condition assessments were performed on patients in the first measurement and 432 in the second measurement. Following the clinical assessment, two types of post-tests were employed to ascertain the usability of the mobile app: quantitative testing using the System Usability Scale and qualitative testing.\u0000 \u0000 Results. The mean SUS score was 80.2 (SD 15.67). The majority of the students agreed that the utilisation of the mobile app to assess a patient’s health condition is faster (M=3.21) and more convenient (M=3.16) than the use of paper-based scales and questionnaires. On a 0–10 scale, the study participants rated it as “highly recommended” (M=8.03) for fellow nursing students or practicing nurses.\u0000 \u0000 Conclusions. Although the “DiagNurse” mobile app was considered a suitable tool for learning clinical patient assessment, the students also proposed some improvements to the app’s design.

Life satisfaction is an important driver of life and an important factor in the personal stability of a person. With the research, we wanted to find which of the holistic factors is most related to life satisfaction in old age.\u0000 \u0000 Material and methods. The research is based on the quantitative method of research, the method of description, compilation and causal non-experimental method. We used the survey technique. A total number of 656 older adults between the age of 65 and 98 participated in the survey. We obtained the data using various standardised measuring instruments. In order to determine the strength of the connection between holistic factors and life satisfaction in older adults, we used advanced statistical methods for the analysis of causal effects and conditional associations (propensity score methods).\u0000 \u0000 Results. We found that the most important factor for life satisfaction in older adults is the spiritual factor (R²=0.37) and the self-esteem index (R²=0.488) within it. The spiritual factor is followed by a psychological factor (R²=0.21), social factor (R²=0.19) and finally the physical factor (R²=0.05).\u0000 \u0000 Conclusions. Spirituality directs the lives of older adults and helps them to overcome various life problems. To analyse the attitudes of nursing staff towards patients with co-occurring alcohol problems.\u0000 \u0000 Material and methods. The study was conducted among 120 nurses working in a tertiary hospital in the Podbeskidzie region (Poland). A diagnostic survey was used with self-administered questionnaire as the research tool.\u0000 \u0000 Results. The number of 93.3% of the respondents confirmed that they had addicts among their patients. The respondents believe that the education and social status of addicted patients (41.8%) and their gender (54%) are important in the way they are treated by medical staff and affect the quality of service provided. The attitudes and feelings of the respondents, when caring for patients with co-occurring alcohol problems, are most often negative or indifferent.\u0000 \u0000 Conclusions. In clinical reality, there is stigmatization and a rather unfavourable or indifferent attitude towards patients with an accompanying alcohol problem. A scoping review designed following PRISMA – ScR guidelines in databases Science Direct, Web of Science and PubMed was conducted in 2022.\u0000 \u0000 Results. All interventions, except for the use of measuring scales, use communication skills.\u0000 \u0000 Conclusions.
