Busko","doi":"10.17816/phf631132","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17816/phf631132","url":null,"abstract":"Survival rate calculations for liver cancer patients at the federal level in the Russian Federation are only conducted in the North-Western Federal District and a few other individual administrative territories. In the first part of our study, we presented a detailed analysis of the prevalence of liver cancer, noting that the levels of standardized incidence and mortality rates in Russia and the North-Western Federal District are virtually identical, allowing us to consider the results of our study as nationally representative. The conducted research confirmed the seriousness of the issue of liver cancer among the population. However, certain advancements in patient treatment were recorded, with a significant increase in survival rates, primarily for one-year survival. For example, in the North-Western Federal District, one-year survival increased from 13.6% in 2000 to 23.1% in 2022, representing a 69.8% increase. At the same time, five-year survival rates remained largely unchanged. Increases in survival rates were observed in most age groups. A significant deficiency in the initial patient record-keeping was identified - insufficiently accurate determination of the stage of liver cancer. One-year survival rates for male and female liver cancer patients (22.7% and 22.1%) were nearly equal, as were the survival rates for liver cancer patients residing in urban and rural areas. However, its application in veterinary medicine represents a less researched area. Literature studies confirm the presence of terpenoid compounds, tannins, ketones, sugars, organic acids, and flavonoids in juniper. Determination of the chemical composition of juniper essential oil revealed the prevalence of terpenes such as α-pinene, β-pinene, ocimene, and α-limonene, with variations depending on the species and habitat of the plant. Analysis of the literature data highlights the significant importance of α-pinene, serving as the primary and most studied terpene in juniper essential oil with notable diuretic properties. Furthermore, juniper essential oil possesses antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and deodorizing properties. The aim of the study was to reassess the antimicrobial and antifungal properties of the extract obtained from common juniper fruits through extraction. The research used extracts of essential oils obtained from common juniper fruits and tested them for antibiotic activity against microorganisms of various taxonomic groups. The experiment was conducted in accordance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements and federal clinical recommendations. These are the most pharmacologically promising substances, since they are produced in large quantities both by artificially grown mycelium and fruiting bodies, do not require complex purification methods, are devoid of toxicity, and, having a complex (immune-mediated and direct) effect on tumors, do not require any complex fractionation procedures. The diversity of β-glucans produced by fungi is shown, the main types of these macromolecules are considered (according to the structural features of the macromolecule, the linear and branched forms of β-glucans are distinguished, first of all). Heteroglycans, a more diverse but less studied group of fungal compounds, have also been characterized. The effects of fungal polysaccharides and heteroglycans on immune and cancer cells described in the literature are considered. The long and branched chains of these biopolymers, as well as peptides and lipids covalently bound to them, have fragments that are complementary to the binding sites of the surface receptors of the animal cell and thus act as their agonists or antagonists. They are recognized by the receptors of antigen-representing cells of the immune system as pathogen-associated molecular patterns, what leads to the activation of the cytotoxic component of the immune system; to reduce their tolerogenic and immunosuppressive signaling. Throughout our study, we conducted a review of the available current and historical regulatory acts and documents regarding the organization of pharmaceutical activities in Russian maternity hospitals during the period 2013-2023. The subject of our investigation focused on therapeutic and preventive medical facilities by type of medical activity, including maternity hospitals. During the research, we presented and analyzed data on the medical activities of maternity hospitals, which inevitably determine the optimal range of finished and manufactured medicinal products under specific conditions, taking into account the age and health status of patients (mothers and children), which, in our view, should lead to the continuous improvement of pharmaceutical activities. We have concluded that solely based on calculated data and the current approach applied to enhancing efficient and adequate pharmaceutical activities, the present measures are insufficient. In this study, we will consider all these aspects for the following age category of elderly people. In accordance with the distribution of the age structure recommended by the World Health Organization, the elderly population includes people from 60 to 79 years old. The WHO age classification is not an absolute criterion for classifying a person to a certain age structure, especially for residents of different countries, taking into account their socio-economic characteristics. The elderly age according to the university characteristic is determined by the fact that there is a decrease in vital activity.
