The study used a qualitative exploratory design. The study population was made up of eight nurses from the traumatology unit of the central hospital in Yaoundé-Cameroon. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview guide from a purposeful sample of nurses. The saturation level determined the sample size for the study. Data were analyzed using inductive content analysis. The results obtained from this study showed that it is difficult to take care of patients with amputated lower limbs as physical support e.g. hygiene care; wound dressings, pain evaluation and care were outlined by most of the nurses as the main mode of support given to patients. Consideration should be given to non-pharmacological and less invasive surgical interventions for phantom limb pain, as they are associated with less common and less severe side effects. Active listening, reassuring patients, helping relationship and confidence were the main elements of psychological support stated by the nurses. The main challenges nurses encountered in supporting amputated patients were difficult communication and language barrier. The findings from this study proposed that there were many factors to take into account in order to be able to help patients with amputated lower limb: physical and moral pain, the psychological aspect with modification of body image, loss of self-esteem etc... The nurse must demonstrate human and relational qualities and great psychological resistance in order to effectively support the amputated patient on the physical level by providing hygiene and comfort care, dressing; and on the psychological level by questioning the patients about their difficult emotions while being available to listen in order to establish a nursing diagnosis and help the patients to cope with their difficulties.\u0000","PeriodicalId":503343,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Health Research","volume":" 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141833714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Immune cells, viruses or bacteria, and fluid fill the nodes, increasing their size. Rarely, other, graver diseases can also result in swollen lymph nodes. Lymphadenopathy is fairly typical. Typically, it is not clinically significant in and of itself. However, it might indicate a serious underlying illness. For clinicians, the challenge is to avoid aggressive examination and biopsy of the majority of children while providing prompt, accurate for kids with serious underlying diseases. Lymphadenopathy is the term for swollen glands or swelling of the lymph nodes. The lymph glands are part of the immune system and help fight infections and other disease. They are enlarged when the body is fighting infection or other diseases. In children its to be able to feel some lymph nodes small, movable lumps under the skin. But if the nodes get bigger than usual, your child may have an infection or other problem. In most cases, lymphadenitis clears up quickly with proper treatment but it may take more time for lymph nodes swelling to go away. Be sure to let your healthcare provider know if your lymphadenitis symptoms come back. The most common treatment for swollen lymph nodes caused by a bacterial infection is antibiotics.","PeriodicalId":503343,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Health Research","volume":"3 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140712527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Around 20% of all global deaths are attributable to sepsis. Conversely, the presence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant peril to the health system. AMR constitutes an escalating pandemic that we must not disregard, as the absence of effective antibiotics would compromise the treatment of even commonplace bacterial infections. Therefore, the increasing prevalence of AMR further adds complexity to the management and outcomes of individuals with sepsis. AMR plays a contributory role in aggravating the consequences of sepsis, ranging from prolonged hospitalization to mortality. The World Health Organization (WHO) has prioritized AMR as a major concern necessitating immediate action to prevent dire consequences in the future. Though, One Health approach, infection prevention, rational use of antibiotics, strengthening surveillance systems, as well as research and development, are crucial strategies in combating antimicrobial resistance, alternative therapies, such as phage therapy and immunotherapeutics, are being explored for the management of AMR infections. Advances in these therapies show promise in addressing the challenges posed by antibiotic resistance in treating sepsis. In this critical assessment, we succinctly delineate the existing challenges of AMR in managing sepsis cases, and we provide an overview of the advancements in treating sepsis through alternative therapeutic modalities.\u0000","PeriodicalId":503343,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Health Research","volume":"21 97","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140260234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
