It was determined that the share of agriculture in the GDP of Ukraine was the highest among all sectors of the economy and amounted to more than 10% in 2021 (pre-war period). Agricultural products account for the largest share of Ukraine's total exports - about 41% per year. In general, the agricultural sector plays a key role in ensuring the well-being of 12 million rural residents (30% of the population of Ukraine). The article deals with the issue of finding relevant sources of financial support for agricultural enterprises in Ukraine. The state financial support of agricultural producers is considered one of the tools for the development of rural areas, especially during the war.\"","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139178694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of the paper is to analyze what are the challenges of rural tourism, what are the trends now and what is the role of sustainability, which guarantees new opportunities and gives a competitive advantage to the regions. According to qualitative and quantitative research methods, the article highlights and studies the importance of sustainability in the context of rural tourism. The main idea of the article is to study what sustainable rural tourism means and why is it important, and it also studies the sustainable rural tourism concept itself and sustainable rural tourism experiences in Georgia and other foreign countries. To summarize, it can be said that sustainable rural tourism is one of the important trends of modern tourism and it can have a positive impact on regional development, too.","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139178010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper was to assess how chemical inputs impacted on the technical efficiency in farms in function of their location in vulnerable nitrate areas and also in function of their productive specialization over three seven-year periods of Common Agricultural Policy enforcement. The Italian FADN dataset from 2004 to 2020 was used for the purpose of this research. Significant differences were estimated in all investigated types of farming, even though there was no change in technical efficiency over the different periods of CAP enforcement. A difference in technology can partially explain the differences in technical efficiency and in the excess of inputs on investigated Italian farms.","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139177354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Like in most activity sectors from agri-food economy, yet with higher intensities, the wine sector in Romania, both the primary and the secondary (processing) sector, has faced numerous problems for the last 30 years, with a direct effect on the capacity to ensure food security and safety at this level. From this perspective, the present approach aims to carry out a diagnosis of the wine production in Romania, in terms of its capacity to meet the domestic consumption needs and valorise the obtained production.","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139178448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the research studies, chicory is an alternative to coffee, for the development of new ingredients for food and beverages, food supplements, fodder and feed for animals. An analysis of the evolution of areas and yields in chicory destined to processing in Europe reveals an increasing interest only for a limited number of producers. Although this crop is not grown in Romania, chicory production represents an opportunity for producers in our country, being a plant specific to the temperate climate. It also represents an opportunity for the development of new businesses in its processing. In the future, organic chicory production will respond to the requirements of the Farm to Fork Strategy, but also of consumers, fact confirmed by the increasing organic imports in the EU.","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139178399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since 2008, its agri-food trade balance has turned negative and the deficit increased continuously. The present paper explores the main features of the Chinese agri-food trade, and its exports, imports and trade balance with Romania. The results show that although the trade flows between the two countries increased significantly, the growth rate of the imports has been far higher than that of exports, resulting in a huge trade deficit for Romania.","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139178344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agriculture is one of the important sectors in the transformation of the European economy and society towards a sustainable long-term future, and the complexity and diversity of the agri-food system require understanding and collective actions. To this end, past successful experiences can significantly contribute to this transition to sustainability. In this paper, it is analysed how participatory processes and collective actions can be examples for starting transformative processes aimed at contributing to sustainable agriculture, agri-food systems and rural areas, with the example of the development of ecological beekeeping in several counties in Romania.\"","PeriodicalId":503202,"journal":{"name":"AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139178002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
