This study therefore became imperative due to the effect of this fluctuation on customer loyalty to yoghurt companies. To tackle this issue, marketers employ diverse tools and strategies aimed at retaining both current and potential customers. This quantitative study investigates the effect of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty in yoghurt companies. The research utilizes survey and cross-sectional research designs to collect data from respondents, employing a systematic sampling technique. Given the infinite population size, data was collected from a sample of 397 customers of these yoghurt companies. Regression was applied to analyze the data and test the hypothesized relationships. The findings reveal that customer satisfaction impact on customer loyalty. It was recommended that managers should foster customer satisfaction as this will ultimately lead to increased customer loyalty.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141345324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the tripartite effects of petrol final energy consumption, trade openness, and foreign direct investment on economic growth in Nigeria over the period 1990-2021. The unit root results and the number of data points at the disposal of this study permit the application of ARDL econometric estimation technique. The short-run and long-run estimated parameters indicate that there are impacts of petroleum consumption, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and trade openness on economic growth in both short-run and long-run in Nigeria. In the long run, petroleum consumption (0.3762%), trade openness (0.2272%) and FDI (0.1271%) have a positive and significant impact on economic growth. The coefficient of the error correction term is negative and statistically significant. This implies that the model is mean-reverting, and that the short run model tends to revert to its long-run equilibrium value over time in the event of disequilibrium at the speed of 63% per annum. The model is robust for policy making as it passed diagnostics tests, no evidence of serial correlation, no evidence of heteroskedasticity, no evidence of model misspecification, there is dynamic stability via Cusum and Cusum of Square and the residuals are normally distributed as evidenced from Jarque-Bera statistics. Based on the statistically significant positive impacts of petroleum energy consumption, trade openness and foreign direct investment, this study suggests that policies aimed at increasing petroleum consumption, FDI and trade openness are going to lead to increase in economic growth in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139530985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The independent variable was proxied using managerial ownership, government ownership and foreign ownership. On the other hand, dividend policy was proxied by dividend payout ratio. The study employed the ex-post facto research design in analyzing the panel data collected from eight (8) oil and gas companies sampled from a total population of twelve companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX). the study covered a period of ten years (2013 to 2022) while the purposive sampling technique was employed. The multiple regression technique of analysis was employed in analyzing the data and the results of the analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between Managerial Ownership and Dividend policy. Thus, suggesting that, an increase in the proportion of shares held by management would results in increased dividend payment. On the contrary, government ownership and foreign ownership had no significant effect on dividend policy of listed oil and gas companies in Nigeria. The study therefore concludes that, managerial ownership would influence dividend payment. Hence it is recommended that, managerial ownership of oil and gas companies be monitored by regulatory agency to ensure compliance with relevant codes and provision.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139531409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of thirteen street vendors were purposively selected for in-depth interviews and non-participant observation. Variables of interest were vendors' perceptions of contributions to urban mobility, community relations and economic dynamics. The analysis was done using content analysis. Findings show that street vendors play pivotal roles in community relations. It was also found that street vendors offer convenient and accessible services, saving residents’ time, convenience of shopping in transit and saving foregone transport money. In terms of the dynamics within the informal economy, it was discovered that some vendors adapt innovative pricing strategies to offer affordability. Based on these findings, it is concluded that street vendors make multifaceted contributions to Enugu's urban economy, cityscape and positive community living. It is therefore recommended that rather see them as a nuisance, urban policymakers and planners have to recognize the significance of street vendors and the informal economy generally  in shaping the city's social fabric, mobility patterns, and economic landscape as they strive to create resilient, inclusive urban environments as enshrined in Sustainable Development Goal number 11.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139532079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research unveiled valuable insights into the dynamics of Nigeria's economy and its implications for policymakers. The work attempts to explore the impacts of exchange rate fluctuation, increasing inflation rates increased money supply on Economic growth in Nigeria. The econometric technique of Error correction model (ECM) was relied upon as a major analytical tool to determine the relationship among the variables. Our findings unveiled a noteworthy connection between exchange rates and inflation, underlining the influence of exchange rate fluctuations on inflationary pressures. Additionally, money supply and economic growth were identified as significant factors affecting inflation rates, aligning with theoretical expectations. Notably, these variables collectively explained a substantial portion of the variation in real Gross Domestic Product (RGDP), signifying their collective influence on economic outcomes. The error correction model (ECM) underscored the statistical significance of the long-term relationships among these variables. In light of these findings, we recommend that policymakers in Nigeria pay close attention to exchange rate policies, monitor and manage money supply, and prioritize economic growth as integral elements in their efforts to control inflation and maintain economic stability. Continuous monitoring and analysis of these variables will be crucial for informed decision-making and effective economic management in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139531855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated the causal relationship between economic growth and carbon emissions in West African countries using panel data spanning over 1970 to 2019 and employing the Dumitrescu-Hurlin (2012) panel causality test. After establishing the order of integration of the study’s variables and cointegration, the results indicated that economic growth causes carbon emissions in the studied countries without feedback. But trade openness has a bi-directional causal relationship with carbon emission. Foreign direct investment (FDI) and financial development exhibit a unidirectional causal relationship with emissions and the causality runs from FDI and financial development to carbon emissions. However, in the case of population, the unidirectional causality runs from carbon emissions to population. The policy suggestion is that ECOWAS countries should promote conservation policies to curtail pollution while stressing the inflow of green FDI into the region.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134948804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary data were obtained through structured questionnaire and interview schedule. A multi-stage sampling procedure was employed to select 7 LGAs (Ikara, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, Soba, Sabon-Gari and Zaria) purposively in stage I for prevalence of integrated crop-livestock farming, 28 villages were selected purposively also for the same reason in stage II while at last stage 400 crop-livestock farmers were randomly selected. Descriptive statistics, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Tobit regression model were used to achieve the objective of this study. Results of the socio-economic characteristics revealed that about 92% of the integrated crop-livestock farmers were found to be male with mean age of 44 years and household size of 7 persons per farmer. Results from the DEA showed that the mean total efficiency, pure efficiency and scale efficiency were found to be 0.74, 0.89 and 0.83, respectively. The DEA results further revealed that farmers can reduce the quantity of farm size, labour, seed, fertilizer, manure and agrochemical inputs by 0.18%, 10.97%, 14.43%, 5.28%, 26.93% and 18.48%, respectively. Furthermore, the findings revealed that 19.9, 30.19 and 65.11% of farmers operated at optimal, sub-optimal and super-optimal scale, respectively. Tobit regression model used to determine factors influencing technical efficiency established that coefficients of age (0.201), household size (0.0204), education level (0.206), farming experience (0.321), extension contact 0.311) and cooperative membership (0.1801) were statistically significant variables at different level of probability. There should be synergy between crop and animal scientists; extension agents and agricultural economists to bring into bearing the needs for farmers to imbibe integrated crop-livestock farming to achieve optimum level of efficiency.","PeriodicalId":496642,"journal":{"name":"GUSAU JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136162999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
