Understanding these problems' nature and how anthropogenic actions contribute to them is essential. At present, it is possible to identify many environmental issues on different scales in the world and Sri Lanka. Therefore, this research mainly aimed to identify the main environmental issues and the appropriacy of adapted management strategies in Egoda Guruwala GN Division in Sri Lanka. Interviews and field observations were used as the main data collection method. The ranking method was used to identify the most prominent issues, and the results were interpreted using Problem Tree analysis. Further, it investigates the strengths and weaknesses of the management strategies in a qualitative methodological approach. The results found that there are five main environmental problems, [1] soil erosion and land degradation, [2] deforestation, [3] environmental pollution, [4] invasive species spreading, and [5] other problems. The study found different management strategies such as planting trees, trenching in sloped areas, raising awareness, using the popper waste disposal method, properly implementing the rules, and composting the carbonic waste. However, the study found another environmental issue due to unsustainable management strategies. As a rural area, the community already has the potential to use sustainable environment management strategies to reduce the environmental issues that may arise in the future. Even so, lack of accountability and ignorance may cause on developing the current situation. Therefore, this study enables us to identify the possible management strategies that may take at a domestic and community level to control and minimize the future environmental issues in the study area.","PeriodicalId":484655,"journal":{"name":"Vidyodaya Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135712651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Documentation of natural resources available within the estimated radius. A few satellite settlements or supportive settlements were identified within the radius of Mahalena cave. The chief aim of this research is to understand the suitability of the landscape and natural resources available within the vicinity of this archaeological site. Mahalena cave site was subjected to large-scale excavation for several seasons by Sri Lankan and Indian archaeologists. A Few seasons of detailed excavations have provided us with sufficient data to study the resource exploitation pattern around the Mahalena cave. The study of the resource exploitation pattern or site catchment study is one of the important tools to reconstruct the economy of ancient settlers of any particular region. Resources lying within the economic range of individual archaeological sites support ancient inhabitants for their day-to-day living. The current research will be helpful in identifying suitable factors which lead the Prehistoric and Early Historic inhabitants of the Mahalena cave to choose this particular location for their settlement.","PeriodicalId":484655,"journal":{"name":"Vidyodaya Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135909422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CBT was developed as a psychotherapy to overcome the deficits of psychoanalysis and behaviorism by Aron T. Beck. However, after 63 years, CBT has transformed from its early framework. In comparison to other psychotherapies, cognitive behavior therapy has rapidly changed and developed as an evidence-based clinical intervention. Therefore, this study explored the evolution of cognitive behavior therapy by focusing on its origin, development, limitations, clinical application, third waves, and future directions. Early CBT therapeutic framework has developed as a cognitive model of depression and developed as an intervention to address the negative core belief of individuals and rationalize maladaptive behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. However, clinicians have experienced several limitations and scholars have recognized theoretical limitations in CBT. Later, scholars on CBT have overcome these deficits and developed disorder-specific CBT therapies. Then, clinicians empirically evaluate those therapeutic frameworks and transform CBT into an evidence-based clinical intervention. Further, CBT has strength in integrating third-wave therapies. In the future, CBT will therapeutically further transform with technology, integrating advanced theories of pathology, and clinical demand of the present health care services. Therefore, as a psychotherapeutic intervention, cognitive behavior therapy has transformed from its early framework, and at present, it has developed empirically. Further, in the future, it will transform into a more effective psychotherapeutic intervention.","PeriodicalId":484655,"journal":{"name":"Vidyodaya Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"232 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135402157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary data was gathered using self-administrated questionnaire through online platform and physically. Sample of the study was selected using stratified and simple random sampling techniques through undergraduates from three selected faculties of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Sample size of the study was 371 respondents including 228 female and 143 male undergraduates. Both descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method were applied for the quantitative data. Findings of the study revealed that both the female and male consumers have an identical level of awareness regarding the ethical fashion market and related scopes. The respondents of the study have a positive impression on ethical fashion concept, and they believe that the concept itself is necessary for the betterment of the society and environment. Attitudes and beliefs regarding ethical fashion and subjective norms were identified as the major factors which affect the purchase intention towards ethical fashion among the consumers. Furthermore, it was found that gender doesn’t have any moderate effect in determining the consumers’ purchase intention towards ethical fashion in the young adult consumers in Sri Lanka. Findings of the study suggested that the fashion industry should implement new methods to motivate the purchasing intention of young customers. Also, such methods should promote the core values of ethical fashion concept as most of the consumers are not aware about those and for the expansion of the ethical fashion industry.","PeriodicalId":484655,"journal":{"name":"Vidyodaya Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135400716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Language is the main medium of poetry and song. Due to the brevity unique to the song, the lyricist does not have the same freedom of language as a poet. Therefore, the use of language is a strong challenge for a lyricist. This linguistic challenge is compounded by the fact that the composition must conform to an audio medium such as a song, as well as under the relevant limitations of the song. The successful writer does not break these technical limitations but successfully overcomes them as in the use of language. The uniqueness of the language used in a high-quality lyric becomes a powerful factor in determining the overall success of the composition. Thus, a lyricist gets a great relief from the use of poetry in creating successful creations by combining a group of ideas in a limited number of words. The purpose of this research paper was to examine the nature of the use of metaphors in modern Sinhala songs. How did the use of metaphor help in creating meaningful lyrics? Is the research problem of this study. Using the works of lyricists Lution Bulathsinghala, Sunil Sarath Perera and Rathna Sri Wijesinghe as the primary source. Content analysis method has been used under qualitative data analysis method for this research and Library study method was used in data collection.
