Whilst 62 per cent of the participants in the sample indicated some proclivity to raping a woman, none of the attributes were significant. These findings were likely due to measurement errors/lack of statistical power, but they could imply that the average rapist is like the public when such predictors are considered.","PeriodicalId":475978,"journal":{"name":"BPS Branch Awards","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135144238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated relationships between health anxiety and age, gender, trait anxiety, medical care-seeking, and serious illness diagnosis in the individual and their blood relatives. A cross-sectional, correlational design was used to assess these relationships across a sample of 108 adult participants. Analysis revealed significant associations between health anxiety and age, gender, and trait anxiety. It is concluded that younger adults and females are at increased risk of developing health anxiety. These findings inform practical interventions that could increase health anxiety detection and reduce associated costs.","PeriodicalId":475978,"journal":{"name":"BPS Branch Awards","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135143788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, people are more disconnected from the natural world than ever before, which incurs societal and economic costs. This study used Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) and autoethnography to investigate the lived-experiences of four participants and the researcher, who believed their nature connection affected their mental wellbeing. A IPA analysis was conducted on verbatim transcripts after face-to-face interviews and the researcher kept a reflective journal throughout the process. Four super-ordinate themes were found: disconnection, nature complexity, childhood, belonging to something greater, and nature connection as a catalyst for change. Five corresponding sub-ordinate themes were also developed. These were: growing away, feelings of awe, nature connection promotes awareness, transcending challenges, and nature connection teaches. The implications of this research are linked to mental wellbeing intervention design.","PeriodicalId":475978,"journal":{"name":"BPS Branch Awards","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135143787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
