Methods: A quasi-experimental, time series design was adopted to find the effectiveness of tomato juice on blood pressure among 40 hypertensive patients selected using non-probability purposive sampling from selected old age homes at Mysuru. Demographic data sheets and the blood pressure monitoring diary were used as a tool for data collection. The samples were assessed for their BP in a supine position for two weeks 3 times a day an interval of 4 hrs and 8 hrs. The first 7 days were considered as pretest BP. Later 150 ml of tomato juice was administered and post Blood Pressure was assessed simultaneously 3 times a day at intervals of 30 mts, 4 hrs, and 8 hrs. Results: A paired t-test was done to compare the mean pre and post-systolic BP, the obtained t value15.96 was found to be significant at p level<0.01. In the comparison between mean pre and mean post-diastolic BP, the calculated value of 27.35 was found significant at <0.01p level. There was no significant association with the demographic variables. Interpretation and conclusion: Based on the above findings it is inferred that tomato juice is very effective in controlling both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.","PeriodicalId":447628,"journal":{"name":"Research & Review: Journal of Geriatric Nursing and Health Sciences","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129466969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives of the Study: “To find out the knowledge of staff nurses regarding administration of IV therapy”, “To assess the practice of staff nurses regarding administration of IV therapy”, “To know the correlation between knowledge and practice of staff nurses regarding administration of IV therapy”, “To know the association between knowledge of staff nurses regarding administration of IV therapy according to the demographic variables”. Methodology: A non-experimental research approach was used in this study to evaluate the subject's knowledge and practice. Staff nurses at IDEAS Hospital, Gwalior, make up the population. Using a deliberate sampling method, the samples were drawn. The demographic factors included age, gender, professional qualification, total clinical experience, the availability of essential IV treatment equipment, any in service training program attended, and the frequency of IV therapy administration per day in this research. Data was gathered via the use of a questionnaire and an observational checklist that had been specifically designed for the purpose. Experts have confirmed its validity. Employing Karl Pearson's (correlation coefficient) method, it was determined that the tool (r=0.5281) was dependable. Results: After executing a pilot research, the full study was carried out. Researchers found that, on average, staff nurses knew (14.16%) and had a mean practice score of of the following: (38.84 percent). There was a strong correlation between the demographic variables of gender and the frequency of IV therapy administration per day, but none of the Age, professional qualification, total clinical experience, equipment on the ward, and participation in any in-service education programs were all crucial demographic factors to take into consideration. H1 is accepted as true, and the null hypothesis is rejected. In nursing practice, education, administration and research, the study's findings have a significant impact. Students should be provided with opportunity to learn about recognizing care. Components of nursing practice that must be prioritized in hospital and community settings the nurse's responsibility for IV treatment administration Nurses administering IV treatment need more research.","PeriodicalId":447628,"journal":{"name":"Research & Review: Journal of Geriatric Nursing and Health Sciences","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116841856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Beyond the biological changes, life transitions such as retirement, relocation and urbanization influence the lives of elderly people and put them at risk for loneliness. The feeling of loneliness has many deleterious consequences. Hence the present study aims to assess loneliness among elderly people. The sample of the study is 400 elderly people living in the randomly selected wards of Tirupati. The perceived loneliness scale developed by Jha (1997) was used to assess the loneliness among elderly. Results revealed that 17% of the elderly had a high level of loneliness, most of the elderly (67%) had a moderate level of loneliness and 16 % had a low level of loneliness. Female elderly, elderly with lower education levels, who are suffering from chronic illness, had obtained significantly higher mean scores on loneliness.","PeriodicalId":447628,"journal":{"name":"Research & Review: Journal of Geriatric Nursing and Health Sciences","volume":"237 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116331429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
