Donepezil HCl loaded proniosomal gels were prepared by the coacervation phase separation method using different nonionic surfactants (spans and tweens). The prepared Donepezil HCl proniosomal gels were evaluated for various parameters such as particle size (PS), drug entrapment efficiency percentage (EE %), and in vitro drug release. Donepezil HCl loaded proniosomal gel was prepared successfully by coacervation phase separation method. The prepared proniosomal gel exhibited desired entrapment efficiency and Particle size. It was found that B2 which chosen as a best formula according to entrapment efficiency, Particle size, and in vitro release study. It was found that B2 which contains high concentration of span 60 is the most appropriate surfactant for the preparation of proniosomes. In vitro release studies proved that the prepared proniosomal gel contains Donepezil HCl considered to be a successful topical transdermal drug delivery system and provide a sustained release of encapsulated drug. Furthermore, there was no significant change in EE % and PS of Donepezil HCl proniosomal gel after storage for 6 months.","PeriodicalId":431380,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Frontline Research in Pharma and Bio Sciences","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139137399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concentrations, cancer and non-cancer risks of Cd, Cr, Ni, and Pb via exposure to water, fish, and sediments from Iko River were examined. Results obtained showed that, the mean concentrations of these metals in fish and sediments were within their recommended limits however; the levels in water were higher than their limits. Principal component analysis (PCA) indentified anthropogenic factor as the major source of all the toxic metals in the environmental media assessed. The estimated daily intake (EDI) rate of the metals revealed that, Cd in water and sediments for both the adult and children populations were higher than their recommended daily oral reference doses (Rfds). The EDI for Cr in all the samples and ages were within the Rfd. While the EDI of Ni in water and fish for both populations were within the Rfd limit, but it was higher in sediments for both populations. The EDI of Pb for all the samples and ages were higher than the Rfd. The hazard indices of these metals were higher than one in water and sediments but less than one in fish for both populations. However, the children class was more susceptible to the non-carcinogenic risks. The results obtained also showed that, Cd and Pb were the major contributors to the reported non-carcinogenic risks. The total cancer risks (TCR) of the metals in all the samples and ages were higher than the recommended limit and the risks were higher in the children than the adult’s class.","PeriodicalId":431380,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Frontline Research in Pharma and Bio Sciences","volume":" 38","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139139099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Freshly harvested leaves of T. catappa were washed, dried and ground into fine powder. The powdered plant sample was processed into extract. Twenty five adult male wistar rats were divided into five groups of five rats. Group I: was the normal control fed only with rat chow and water, Groups II-V were administered with 100, 200, 400 and 600 mg/kg of methanol leaf extract of Terminalia catappa (MLETC). Treatment lasted for 28 days, after which animals were sacrificed and blood sample collected analysed using standard procedures. The result obtained showed that oral administration of extract significantly (P<0.05) increased the activity of liver enzyme in a dose dependent manner. This may or may not necessarily imply that the extract is hepatotoxic as certain compounds can induce the said enzymes and may not mean that the liver is damaged.","PeriodicalId":431380,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Frontline Research in Pharma and Bio Sciences","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114461760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the study indicated that long-haired goats are reared only at highlands with a few being reared at the midlands. Most of the goats in the midlands were short coated. In the high lands the does were selected based on their coat type (long hair and glossy) coat color(black),.While at the midlands the does were selected based on their reproduction rate, kidding interval for does and reproduction rate followed by body conformation were preferred trait of buck for the mid land. While in the low land they preferred does and buck for their body conformation, hair coat type(White).Bucks were reared at Highland for cash income, skin (saddle) and wealth. At mid-lands they were kept for meat, cash and manure while in the case of Low land Bucks are for cash and meat. The selection criteria of buck and does in High land included their adaptability to high altitude conditions besides black coat color and high body weight and does in Highland include long hair, large body and coat color (black).respectively. However, in Mid-Land does and bucks were selected based on higher body weight and with large body size followed by good mothering ability. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in three Woredas of Bale zone Oromiya (Highland, Mid-Land, Low land) National Regional State. Bale zone has a latitude and longitude of 7°7′N 40°0′E with an elevation of 2,492 meters (8,176 ft) above sea level. Sampling methodology: The weredas in the zone was selected based on purposive sampling method. The woredas i,e highlands (Dinsho),midlands (Agarfa) and lowlands (Ginnir)were selected based on the agro ecologies, goat population within the agro ecology. 135 respondents were identified purposively based on their experience in rearing goats, besides their willingness to participate in the project. Statistical analysis: The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS (V24) of Windows. The data was divided into both quantitative and qualitative parameters. The quantitative traits were analyzed using descriptive statistics the means(inferential eta ANOVA) were compared across the three agro ecologies using Duncan’s multiple Range test, while the qualitative traits were assessed using non parametric tests ( viz. chi square test). Results: The preferred traits of does reared at different agro ecology of Bale Zone in the highlands indicate selection based on coat color of the goats were preferred the most over the other traits. The findings indicate that bucks are primordially reared for cash income. At midlands and lowlands the bucks are also reared for wealth and manure. Conclusion: It can be concluded that goat selection criteria and breeding objective at different agro ecology are different. Pneumonia and diarrhea are the two leading causes of under-five mortality. They have overlapping risk factors, such as poverty, undernutrition, and poor hygiene. Ethiopia introduced Integrated Community Case management (ICCM) is strategy to treat sick children in communities. Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine was introduced in 2010, and Rotavirus vaccine was in 2013.This research was conducted to assess the changes in morbidity and mortality in children due to pneumonia and diarrhea based on HMIS data. Methodology: Diarrhea and pneumonia morbidity, admission, and mortality data of under five children were extracted from 2002/09 EFY to 2008/16 GC, annual Federal Ministry of Health and Health related indicators bulletin. Proportion of morbidity, admission, mortality, and change in percentage analyzed and compared using significant test. Results: Morbidity due to pneumonia to total under five morbidity increased from 2.6% to 8.7%, and that of diarrhea from 2.3% to 11.8% in six years (2010 to 2016) p-0.000. Admission due to pneumonia decreased from 5% to 4.5%, (10% reduction), p-0.009 and that of diarrhea 3.4%, to 1.3%, (63% reduction), p-0.000. Mortality due pneumonia decreased from 2.7%, to 1.4 %, (48% reduction), p-0.113, that of diarrhea decreased from 1.9% to 0.9%, (53% reduction), p-0.42. The change in morbidity and admission were significant, but that of mortality was not significant. Conclusion: The increase in morbidity of pneumonia and diarrhea might be due to increase in health service utilization. The decline in admission and mortality of both diseases showed that introduction of new vaccines of, Rota, and early treatment in health posts using ICCM algorisms, have significant contribution. Standard quality treatment, prevention by improving immunization quality and coverage, maximum utilization of health service, is necessary to further decrease, admission and mortality.","PeriodicalId":431380,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Frontline Research in Pharma and Bio Sciences","volume":"203 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128689153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Out of the 17 Actinomycetes colonies. sub-cultured on ISP2 for growth, and incubation of plates for 7 days, only three isolates demonstrated cultural characteristics similar to that of Streptomyces sp. three isolates were selected and purified by pure culture techniques of Streptomyces sp. All isolates were given a number as B1, B2, and B3. All Streptomyces sp isolates were screened for their antibacterial activity on Yeast extract-malt extract agar medium (ISP2) using scross-streak technique against two pathogenic bacteria include Gram-negative (Two pathogenic bacteria, including Gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus). Among three Streptomyces sp isolates that obtained from Baghdad city (Al-Jadriya), one isolates (B2) didn’t show any antibacterial activity against any type of pathogenic bacteria (Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria), while two Streptomyces sp isolates (B1 and B3) showed antibacterial activity against Gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus. Screening was performed by Agar-Well Diffusion method and growth inhibition zones were measured in millimeters for each of the Streptomyces isolates (B1 and B3). Tested isolates have shown potent in vitro antibacterial activities against all tested pathogens. The highest activities were shown by isolate B1 against S. aureus 19.5 mm, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 14 mm. It is also evident that B3 isolate have shown activities against all pathogenic bacteria with inhibition zone diameters ranging between 17 and 13 mm against S. aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa respectively. Effect of Pomegranate peel and Matricaria chamomilla extracts (200μl, 300μl and 400μl) on the growth of Streptomyces sp were initially determined by the agar well-diffusion method, showed there is no diameters of inhibition zones exerted by the extract towards Streptomyces in different concentrations of Pomegranate peel and Matricaria chamomilla extracts.","PeriodicalId":431380,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Frontline Research in Pharma and Bio Sciences","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116286298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
