In addition, the chapter analyses the ability of the contract to help network members developing new skills, to carry out independently some activities previously carried out only in the network, and to grow. The survey results emphasise the importance of complementary resources and market proximity in sustaining network performance. Finally, the chapter investigates the topic of innovation, and again, the network is perceived as effective when it gives access to complementary expertise to do innovation. The chapter therefore offers important guidelines for the construction of high-performance networks by identifying the key attributes of shared resources and prior competencies of the partners.","PeriodicalId":428184,"journal":{"name":"Osservatorio Nazionale sulle reti d’impresa 2021","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132713403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

What are the most popular digital technologies and which business networks are most likely to adopt them? The chapter describes the diffusion of nine technologies in business networks in relation to their type, activity, composition, age and size. Two specific insights concern the ability of digital technologies (1) to ease the achievement of certain performance objectives and (2) to foster the resilience of the network with respect to shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":428184,"journal":{"name":"Osservatorio Nazionale sulle reti d’impresa 2021","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132494747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the beginning of the year, many companies have been able to gradually restart by networking, and to recover part of the losses accumulated during the lockdown. Now that the indicators show strong economic growth, it is necessary to improve the measures that can favor the transition of spontaneous mechanisms of collaboration towards stable and organized aggregation models between companies, especially in the context of production chains.","PeriodicalId":428184,"journal":{"name":"Osservatorio Nazionale sulle reti d’impresa 2021","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121823873","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The industry is going through a critical transition that’s changing and has partly already changed the rules of the game. The dimensions along which firms are competing are changing, and the industry’s complexity is continuously increasing. In this scenario, inter-organizational relationships emerge as a key factor to face uncertainty and change, pursuing efficiency and competitiveness goals.","PeriodicalId":428184,"journal":{"name":"Osservatorio Nazionale sulle reti d’impresa 2021","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114172137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the chapter explores, for the first time, the theme of the evolution of network contracts, from their genesis to their transformation over time. The chapter then opens a reflection on the developments and evolution of the network contract, whether or not it is a transitional tool to allow small and medium-sized enterprises to acquire the resources and skills necessary to grow and move towards more structured forms of collaboration, or a durable tool suitable over time to support the performance of network companies without necessarily transforming itself into a different legal institution. Finally, the chapter proposes a comparison with the data collected in 2019 to discuss the trend of evolution of network contracts with respect to the variables investigated.","PeriodicalId":428184,"journal":{"name":"Osservatorio Nazionale sulle reti d’impresa 2021","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122187728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The production of information by business networks, as for any other organisation, contributes to respond to the cognitive needs of different stakeholders, both external and internal to the aggregation, for different decision-making processes. The informative-accounting dimension that emerges from the empirical research, despite presenting a slight improvement with respect to the situation that emerged from the previous survey, still shows spaces of uncertainty both in the formal fulfilments and in the evaluation of the opportunity of aggregated information of a substantial nature.","PeriodicalId":428184,"journal":{"name":"Osservatorio Nazionale sulle reti d’impresa 2021","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131464616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
