This paper outlines the trends, causses, challenges and implications of urbanization in India and investigates the factors that fueled for expansion of urban sprawl, and its subsequent social, economic, and environmental consequences. Rural-urban migration has been one of the key motivations, driven by a desire for greater economic prospects, social mobility, and higher living conditions. Natural population increase in towns and cities has also contributed significantly to urbanization. The expansion of the service sector as well as the emergence of industrial businesses have lured and drawn people to cities in large number. On the positive side, urbanization has boosted economic growth, raised living standards, and expanded access to essential services. On the negative side, urbanization has resulted in a number of issues such as slum expansion, traffic congestion, pollution, and inadequate infrastructure. India’s urbanization has offered mixed results containing both opportunities and treats. The measures of organizational performance utilized in this paper are productivity,\u0000growth and survival. The research design used was a cross-sectional survey. Using purposive sampling, five companies were\u0000drawn from the oil servicing sector and a total of eight hundred and two (802) employees from the five companies\u0000constituted the study population. A sample size of two hundred and sixty-six (266) employees was drawn using the Taro\u0000Yamane’s formula. Instruments for the variable were assessed for reliability using the Cronbach Alpha at a 0.7 threshold.\u0000The Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient as used to test the postulated hypotheses. The results revealed that\u0000interpersonal deviant behaviour has negative but significant correlation with the measures of organizational performance.\u0000Although interpersonal deviant behavior may start as a conflict between co-workers, it often mutates into other dimensions\u0000of deviance and spills over to the organization impacting on property, production system and organizational processes to the\u0000detriment of the performance of oil servicing companies.
