Pedestrians, drivers, cyclists, and bus transit riders deserve equal access and protection while navigating through streets. The author argues that street design is not necessarily the only focus of complete streets. Instead, three strategies are discussed that have altered the way projects are constructed. These are: (1) reformulate the tenets of transportation safety; (2) create a wide and strong political base; and (3) offer a straightforward way of achieving the actualization of multimodal transportation.","PeriodicalId":415706,"journal":{"name":"Completing Our Streets","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116635475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
