This \u0000rising area combines knowledge and skills from Bio and Science, Technology, \u0000Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEM) areas. One of the \u0000advantages of the synergy between these two work areas is that it offers \u0000an opportunity for closing the traditional STEM’s gender gap. Despite \u0000this opportunity and the significance and wide application of bioinformatics \u0000field, this topic has still not gained enough visibility in the graduate \u0000programs for the Bio Bachelor Degrees at the University of Granada. \u0000This has motivated the organization of an annual “Educational Workshop \u0000on Bioinformatics” at the University of Granada by the Department \u0000of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Results of the analysis of \u0000the first two editions of this workshop show a great interest on the topic \u0000by the university community at all levels (e.g. undergraduate and graduate \u0000students, teachers and researchers) without significant distinction \u0000among genders at global level. When analyzing student group, women \u0000did show a higher interest on the subject.
