The first member of these compounds is part of a system reconstructed here as *K u ē(i) [ *K u eH 1 -i, *K u eH 1 i ] - *K u ō(u) [ *K u eH 3 -u, *K u eH 3 u ], which appears in Germ. interrogative model adverbs. The second member consist of two lengthened forms of the root *H 2 eiu- ‘(life)-time’ and has cognates in Germ. and Greek.
