This paper proposes a new frequency offset estimation algorithm for the downlink of TD-SCDMA system. It exploits the midamble of downlink time slots to provide maximum-likelihood (ML) estimate of the frequency offset. As it eliminates the multipath interference, the algorithm has the ability to resist the frequency-selective fading.
