All accessions have exhibited absence of plant pigmentation, and the majority of them exhibited an erect plant growth type. Most accessions had an angular ram's seed shape and medium-length pods. Majority of accessions have exhibited early days of flowering and medium-sized seeds, while Plant height had the lowest coefficient of variation (0.04), and Days to 50% flowering had the highest coefficient of variation (0.57%). All accessions have been characterizing lately flowering whereas twenty-five accessions were lately matured than check varieties. Twenty accessions have produced more primary branches and twenty-four accessions produced higher pods per plant than the check varieties. Three clusters were present in the study. days to 75% maturity and plant height have very significant positive association (r=+1.00) but there was no association between secondary branch and 100 seed weight.","PeriodicalId":384336,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Advanced Botany","volume":"222 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139205293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For sampling Loro Ghat was taken. In the present study, at about 77 deciduous forest trees species belonging to 31 different families, were identified with their botanical name and their possible uses by the local tribes were recorded. It is observed that the family Fabaceae represent maximum number of seventeen species, followed by Moraceae with 7 species, Combretaceae with 06 species, Myrtaceae with 5 species Rutaceae with 4 species, Anacardiaceae Rubiaceae and Euphorbiaceae with 3 species, respectively. Besides, these families Annonaceae, Apocynaceae, Burseraceae, Embenaceae, Lamiaceae and Meliaceae were found with two species of each in the surveyed area. On the basis of data analysis Butea monosperma showed their maximum frequency, density and abundance i.e., 0.507, 1.074 and 2.117 respectively, during the sampling, and then followed by Cassia fistula and Shorea robusta with 0.313 and 0.388, respectively. On the other hand, Embilica officinalis, Ficus bengalensis, F. carica, F. glomerata, Pongamia pinnata and Pterocarpus marsupium showed minimum distribution in the forest. Surprisingly, the species like Santalum album, Mangifera indica and Annona reticulate, Terminalia arjuna and Tectona grandis were appeared with high abundance.","PeriodicalId":384336,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Advanced Botany","volume":" 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139197312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sodium bicarbonate is an alkaline salt that also affects crops. The present experiment was performed to study the impacts of seed germination and early seedling growth of mustard under various NaHCO3 salt treatments. This experiment was a completely randomized design, and seeds ofmustard were sown in petridishes lined withWhatman No. 1 filter paper in triplicates. Different concentrations (0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 mM) of NaHCO3 salt solution were used to moisten the filter papers. The control (0 mM) treatment was applied using distilled water. The seedlings were measured on the fourteenth day of sowing. The outcomes demonstrated that the germination percentage declined significantly at sodium bicarbonate salt treatments (5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 mM), while the % DFC for germination was found to be increased with increasing salt levels. In various salt (2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 mM) concentrations, there was a significant reduction got in seedling growth, as assessed by the seedling vigor index, length of seedlings, and fresh weight of seedlings. The percentage of phytotoxicity increased while the tolerance index dropped with salt treatments. The dry weight of shoot and whole seedlings was also inhibited significantly by salt treatments (2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 mM), and root dry weight got a significant reduction at (5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 mM) levels of salt treatments.","PeriodicalId":384336,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Advanced Botany","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128261898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The root nodules of M. polymorpha were elongated, branched and indeterminate. All isolated rhizobia were highly diverse in their physiological traits. Based on colony morphology, all isolates were categorized into six groups. Major group containing 6 isolates (MP1, MP3, MP9, MP10, MP11 and MP13) showed white, opaque, raised, smooth edges, non-gummy, and mucilaginous characteristics. Four rhizobia strains MP3, MP4, MP9, and MP15 showed salt-tolerance up to 3% and were well adapted to high alkaline conditions and exhibited growth in extremely alkaline media (pH 10). Majority of strains showed positive result for IAA production, nitrate reductase and catalase activity. In addition, citrate utilization, ammonia production, phosphate solubilization and cellulase activity were observed in few isolates. In present study, some rhizobia isolates like MP3, and MP15 were very versatile rhizobia that showed high plant growth promoting activities (IAA production and phosphate solubilization) and were also tolerant to high pH and salt concentration. Such type of superior rhizobia can be part of biofertilizers to enhance legume crop productivity in an ecofriendly manner without application of chemical fertilizers. Our study suggested that rhizobia isolates associated with Medicagopolymorpha were significantly diverse in their physiological and biochemical parameters","PeriodicalId":384336,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Advanced Botany","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128270040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiment was designed as RCBD with four replications.
