The multicomponent droplets are at standard conditions and the evaporation is initiated through the elevated temperature of the convective ambient air. The liquid mixture properties of INN and ethanol used in the model are fits to new experimental data which are valid in the temperature range of 293.15 K through 333.15 K and for mass fractions of INN in ethanol up to 0.34. In general, there are two different pathways through which the nanoparticle synthesis may occur from the precursor solution. In the first pathway, the particle forms directly inside the liquid precursor solution, and in the second pathway, the droplet is transferred entirely into the gas phase from which the nanoparticle may form. The INN/ethanol precursor droplet is treated as a three-component solution consisting of ethanol, iron(III) nitrate, and water, where the INN consists of the latter two. The process is initially governed by the ethanol evaporation and later by water evaporation since ethanol is more volatile component. Further decomposition and liquid-phase reactions may occur inside the precursor droplet, eventually leaving over an iron (III) nitrate particle or transferring the iron (III) nitrate into the gas phase, which happens beyond the thermal decomposition temperature of 403 K beyond which the iron (III) nitrate may decompose into gaseous Fe2O3, so that the entire INN/ethanol droplet transforms into the gas phase. The study presents simulations of the evaporation of the INN/ethanol droplet for both situations.","PeriodicalId":380770,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer","volume":"246 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124381311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the pool boiling heat transfer performance of various surfaces/geometries and the establishment of reliable predictive correlations has received a lot of attention from laboratories across the world. Visualization and heat transfer measurements of pool boiling using hydrofluoroether HFE-7100 as the working fluid on a plain smooth copper surface are described in this paper. The polished boiling surface had an average surface roughness of 0.019 μm. The saturated pressure ranged from 0.7 to 2 bar. The saturation pressure was found to affect the number of active bubble nucleation sites at a given temperature difference between the wall and the saturation temperature, delayed the formation of bigger bubbles and affected the pool boiling heat transfer. Starting with the lower pressure of 0.7 bar, the heat transfer coefficient increased by an average of 24%, 49% and 60% for saturated pressure of 1.0, 1.5 and 2 bar respectively. The corresponding increase in the critical heat flux (CHF) was 27%, 48%, and 64%. The obtained experimental nucleate boiling heat transfer data as well as the CHF were compared with well-known correlations reported in the literature.","PeriodicalId":380770,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128628340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research is motivated by new approaches in dynamic wing re-configuration studies initiated by NASA. Wing re-configuration via mechanical wing movement has been successfully implemented in military aircraft. The latest approach examines changes in wing characteristics in a dynamic fashion (“morphing”) using smart material and moving parts in the entire wing surface. To better understand airfoil modification effects on the aerodynamics of the process, the super-critical airfoil upper camber is varied. ANSYS/Fluent software is used to develop the numerical simulation for compressible flows in the low transonic regime (Mach number 0.7-0.9). The baseline simulations have been successfully validated with published data and selected experimental results. Simulation results for lift, drag, and pressure coefficients along with the flow Mach numbers for various angles of attack have been produced to evaluate airfoil modifications. The preliminary findings point to an improved airfoil lift characteristics by increasing the airfoil upper camber. As expected, increased drag coefficient appear to counteract the improved lift characteristics.","PeriodicalId":380770,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134055656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
