The neurosurgical operative field requires rigorous hemostasis, inopportune use of bipolar coagulation can be dangerous and lead to a post-operative ischemic complication. Otherwise, coagulation is sometimes not feasible because of the noble anatomical juxtaposed with the hemorrhagic focus. There is still a great deal of confusion concerning optimal use of bio surgical hemostatic agent, because of the wide range of products, performing their hemostatic action in different ways. Using Tisseel VH fibrin sealant glue as a biological adhesive glue indicated as an adjuvant local hemostatic in neurosurgical operative field was inspired by limitations related to other surgical techniques. We will expose in this technical note our team's experience of using a Tisseel glue. The goal of this technical note is to deliver to young neurosurgeon or to inexperimented team some tips and recommendations about fibrin glue and its efficiency in reducing neurosurgical morbidity. We report the utilisation of Tisseel in many cases of neurosurgery when conventional method failed. An additional literature search was performed in the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases to compare our tips to published one. The film glue is deposited as a \"wrap\" \"around a suture, it can be used as an adjuvant for dissection intracranial parenchyma, it can be most efficient than surgical wax for some bone bleeding around emissary veins.","PeriodicalId":361095,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Surgery & Surgical Techniques","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130399371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is collection of fluid behind the knee joint & is due to swelling of popliteal bursa. This type of the abnormality usually does not show any symptoms. However in chronic cases with secondary trauma or wear & tear, there may be swelling, pain, tenderness & the affected knee may get stiff. In allopathic medicine the treatment given is purely supportive care and if it does not suffice then aspiration is done. In some cases steroid injection or sclerotherapy is given & if it fails or show recurrence, then surgical removal is the treatment of choice. Keeping the side effects, short falls, recurrence & cost effect in view Hirudotherapy has been used for the treatment of baker’s cyst. Here 5 leeches were applied locally at the popliteal fossa preferably on the swelling. The procedure was done every after 10 days & total number of therapies given were five. It was observed that the cysts was completely resolved in all of the patients and did not show any recurrence even after follow up for 2 year.","PeriodicalId":361095,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Surgery & Surgical Techniques","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126625804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most important complications are neurological deficits that have been quantified with an incidence of up to 25% in international trials. In this study, we focused on the postoperative outcome over a ten year period after surgical repair of type A dissections. Cerebral hydatid cyst is very rare accounting for only 0.5 to 3% of all cases. They represent about 1-2% of all intracranial lesions. Fifty to seventy five percent of the patients suffering from echinococcosis are children and young adults. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included four patients who were treated for intracranial hydatid cysts between 2016 and 2019, in Neurosurgery department, CHU Mohammed VI, Oujda, Morocco. They were three male children and one young female, aged between 3 and 22 years, with an average age of 10, 75. Increased intracranial pressure and seizure represent the most common symptoms. Patients were evaluated with MRI (1.5 T), and underwent a chest X-ray, echocardiography and abdominal CT scan and ultrasound to reveal any other locations. All lesions were surgically removed and received medical treatment. Results: The cysts were successfully removed using the Dowling technique. The postoperative period was uneventful no complications observed, seizures were not seen during follow-up. Conclusion: This report aims to emphasize the clinical, radiological and therapeutic features related to this infectious condition that involves the central nervous system with a literature review.","PeriodicalId":361095,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Surgery & Surgical Techniques","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129389171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Jacobeaus from Sweden performed one of the initial thoracoscopies under local anesthesia to evaluate and treat pleural effusions in a patient with pulmonary tuberculosis [1]. The technique and methods have since evolved, and like other minimally invasive procedures have often replaced their open counterparts in most centers. VATS is known to have shorter operative times, less intraoperative bleeding and shorter hospital stay.","PeriodicalId":361095,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Surgery & Surgical Techniques","volume":"24 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113980408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The incidence of radiation cholecystitis is almost 1 % after radio-embolization. The spectrum of this complication can range from biliary dyskinesia to acute cholecystitis. This complication is a result of non-targeted radioembolization of microspheres in the capillary network supplying the gall bladder wall via the cystic artery [1]. Most studies and reviews state that this complication occurs because of penetration of regional hepatic tissue, however, this can be refuted given that the mean penetration of emitted Beta particles is 2.5mm with a maximum penetration of 10mm [1]. A careful consideration of the hepatic anatomy and the positioning of the angiographic catheter during the mapping and dose delivery can significantly prevent the risk of radiation induced biliary complications.","PeriodicalId":361095,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Surgery & Surgical Techniques","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130671451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
