Clustering is one of the methods used to gather information in which sensor nodes are clustered into groups and in each group all sensors communicate only with cluster heads (CHs). CHs send the collected information to a Base Station. Since the energy of the sensors is limited and sending information in each time reduces the nodes' energy, optimal selecting a CH will be notably effective in decreasing energy consumption of the nodes and therefore increases the network life time. In this paper we present a clustering method to choose the CH in an optimal way without need for information of nodes' location, based on two parameters of the energy and number of neighbors, considering the mobility of the nodes. The considerable point in the results is that the performance of our algorithm is uniformly in the three cases.","PeriodicalId":345901,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 12th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology (ICACT)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115127921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IEEE 802.11p is the proposed standard for physical and MAC layer of WVC devices. The main objective of the standard is to change the frame format and increase delay spread tolerance introduced by vehicle mobility, in which the channel bandwidth is scaled from 20 MHz i.e.802.11a to 10 MHz i.e. 802.11p. This paper proposes TDMA technique with fixed time slots and guard band between slots to ensure interoperability between wireless devices communicate in rapidly changing environment where transactions must be completed in small timeframe. The new TDMA sub-layer is proposed to be on-top of the conventional 802.11p MAC. The simulation results present the performance analysis and validate the efficiency of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":345901,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 12th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology (ICACT)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116122115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Skyline query processing is important since skyline objects show interesting points from a large data set according to multiple criteria. Most skyline researches about wireless ad hoc network focus on optimizing the energy consumption due to the limited resource. But, most existing researches assume that data is uniformly distributed and do not consider data whose distribution is skewed in a specific region. In order to reduce the energy consumption, we propose a new filtering method considering the data distribution. We verify the performance of the proposed method through a comparative experiment with an existing method. The results of the experiment confirm that the proposed method reduces the communication overhead and execution time compared to the existing method.","PeriodicalId":345901,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 12th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology (ICACT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129324048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the number of tags was gotten, the throughput could be greatly improved. Based on maximum likelihood estimation, the proposed hybrid tag number estimation scheme combined the binary search based anti-collision algorithm and aloha based anti-collision algorithm to estimate the tag number. Simulation results showed that the proposed scheme had high estimation accuracy than the existing algorithm.","PeriodicalId":345901,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 12th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology (ICACT)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130525434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
