Problem is, almost all of it shows no positive impact because budgeting is a significant factor in running a business, and hence it affects businesses in a negative way in a COVID-19 crisis. Results from the surveys conducted help to justify that such outbreak does affect projects or business budgeting or the business itself negatively, and that it prevents businesses to operate and perform at the most optimum level. Budgeting, one of the management tools used by businesses, is the process where these businesses establish a plan on how they would like to spend their money. This technique helps these businesses in decision-making because budgeting is the process where business estimates their finances for their upcoming future period and thus, able to plan their operations. However, it is necessary that the economic impact of budgeting is require to study such in a present scenario of COVID-19 Budgeting.","PeriodicalId":338271,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th International Conference on New Ideas in Management, Economics and Accounting","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128990322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The management of the enterprises must have a helicopter view in perceiving, analyzing, and assessing risks as it must be regarded from the entire enterprise's perspective (Jie Liu, 2012) as the risk is undoubtedly an inherent part of the corporate strategy of doing business (Dickinson, 2001). Furthermore, currently managing risk is not just doing risk assessment including how to mitigate risk but with enterprise risk management, the goal is to create, protect and enhance shareholder value (Barton et al., 2002). This paper investigates whether the implementation of ERM influences firm performance. This paper also aims to validate which of the following variables: Internal Audit, IT Capability, and CRO Role, affecting ERM implementation on firm performance. Thorough research has been done on listed and non-listed Indonesian State-Owned-Enterprises (SOEs) as the unit analysis. The result showed that all three variables, namely Internal Audit, IT Capability and CRO Role, have positively influenced ERM implementation against firm performance. The findings will contribute new insights for Indonesian SOEs to make use of the tested variables in ERM implementation to improve firm performance.","PeriodicalId":338271,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th International Conference on New Ideas in Management, Economics and Accounting","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129797184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Perceptions of the Air Berlin bankruptcy on airline competition in Germany, Austria and Switzerland","authors":"Daniel Schoenfelder","doi":"10.33422/8th.imeaconf.2021.03.60","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33422/8th.imeaconf.2021.03.60","url":null,"abstract":"In Europe’s airline industry, the market exit of one of its largest industry players, the Air Berlin Group, has led to significant changes in the level of competition within the DACH-region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Existing research, however, is limited to provide insights into the shortand long-term im-plications of such market changes on the level of competition, particularly on price and quality. In response, this paper investigates how the bankruptcy of Air Berlin influences the level of price and quality airlines are offering to its passengers. Using a qualitative approach, airline-related professional and experts have been interviewed about their perception of the levels of quality, price and competition. The findings show that the Air Berlin bankruptcy resulted in a shortage of capacity on the market leading to increasing prices and short-term competition is likely to increase as various airlines try to replace Air Berlin on the market. However, in the long term, prices for airline tickets are expected to bounce back to a similar level like before the Air Berlin bankruptcy, as more competitors will penetrate the market, which leads to a more challenging market environment. In terms of quality, it was found that other Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs) offered similar products compared to Air Berlin, thus no or only minor changes in quality are expected.","PeriodicalId":338271,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th International Conference on New Ideas in Management, Economics and Accounting","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128248938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Manufacturers and researchers need to work together and therefore focus on improving effectiveness to develop products at lower costs, with newer technology and more customer-focused. Research Campus Mobility2Grid as a large public-private research project has thus developed a methodology that specifically addresses this problem of product development and exploitation of research results. The methodology refers to different levels of abstraction. It comprises as main elements a crosssectional work package in the superordinate project structure and distribution of work packages among the participating organizations (i.e. universities, research institutes, industry), the foundation of a dedicated spin-off, and innovation workshops for product development. This paper aims to explore how different types of ideas and projects are evaluated and selected in the context of the development of complex technological products. The implementation was accompanied by a qualitative research approach, workshops and observations that have been carried out with the cooperation of different companies. These elements of the methodology will enhance decision-making before finalizing market-ready products. A case example from the living lab of the European Energy Forum (EUREF) Campus in Berlin is presented to demonstrate the application of the proposed methodology. In the Research Campus Mobility2Grid companies from the energy and mobility sector as well as research institutes were participating. A spin-off was founded for the purpose to support the success of product development as well as the management of the project activities on one mutual campus. The result of this paper presents useful guidelines for research and development projects to support effective methodological approaches and efficient assessment dimensions in related decision-making.","PeriodicalId":338271,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th International Conference on New Ideas in Management, Economics and Accounting","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123916803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is, however, not clear whether these platforms have the potential to disrupt current industries. As a response, this paper contributes a more nuanced view on the notion of disruption and disruptive innovation and is concerned with digital freight forwarders (DFFs) in particular. To distinguish between disruptive and sustained innovations, we develop a framework from literature that allows characterizing digital platforms and their disruptive potential along the initial target market, the value contribution, the ecosystem network and the industry supervision. We apply this framework to a comparative dual-case study of two DFFs and reveal important differences. Beyond its very contribution, the paper invites researchers to expand on the given approach, in particular to advance the predictive ability of the proposed framework.","PeriodicalId":338271,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th International Conference on New Ideas in Management, Economics and Accounting","volume":"83 1-2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134426958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the literature on accounting student skills, it is expected for accounting students to acquire and develop certain skills in conjunction with the developments in the business and technology environment. The study uses the neocorrespondence theory to guide the research theoretical and analytical procedures. It is argued that there is a gap between the current skills that accounting students acquire and the marketplace requirements. Therefore, this study provides empirical evidence based on 34 selected studies that have discussed the various skills for a different level of accounting students with different perceptions using a meta-analysis technique. All perspectives were considered, such as students, employers, educators, accounting professions, and stakeholders. In addition, the results of this study are based on the analysis of previous studies that used surveys as a data collection method to collect the data on accounting skills from different perspectives. The Researchers stated four categories for skills which are: intellectual and technical, personal, interpersonal, and professional skills. Based on this research results, the most rated skill is basic computer skills, which fits under the intellectual and technical skills category. This paper provides implications for accounting educators, employers, and students.","PeriodicalId":338271,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th International Conference on New Ideas in Management, Economics and Accounting","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125581711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
