La proximidad al emperador Carlos V marcara su trayectoria personal y su produccion literaria. La publicacion, en 1528, del Libro Aureo de Marco Aurelio, dara comienzo a una carrera literaria que hara de Guevara uno de los autores mas leidos y apreciados de la Europa del siglo XVI.
