Reynolds (1886) begrundete klassische hydrodynamische Schmiertheorie fuhrt u. a. im Fall der hier behandelten Punktberuhrung auf ein nicht akzeptables Ergebnis: Die durch Kapitza [10] angegebene Losung fur den Fall des Kugelkontaktes liefert das Verschwinden des Integrals uber die Druckverteilung und damit auch der Traglast. Es wird hier gezeigt, das diese Losung eindeutig ist. Entgegen experimentellen Beobachtungen [20] ergibt die elastohydrodynamische Behandlung des Problems in [2] und in [3] negative Drucke mit nicht vernachlassigbar kleinem Betrag auf der Abstromseite. Dieser Mangel wird hier durch eine physikalisch begrundete Abanderung des Freigliedes der Reynoldsschen Gleichung vermieden. Das dabei benutzte mathematische Modell beschreibt die elastische Verformung naherungsweise durch Annahme eines kreisformigen Hertzschen Spaltes konstanter Filmdicke h0, auserhalb dessen die beiden festen Kugeln unverformt sind. Damit wird die Druckverteilung im inkompressiblen isothermen Schmierfilm uberwiegend explizit sowie mit Fehlerabschatzung einer Differenzenlosung bestimmt. Durch Ubergang zur Grenze groser Lasten ergibt sich hieraus die Parameterabhangigkeit von h0 in groserer Allgemeinheit als in [2] oder in [3]. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000The classical hydrodynamic theory, which was founded by O. Reynolds (1886), yields an unacceptable result in particular in case of the point contact under consideration here: according to Kapitza's solution [10], the integral of the distribution of the pressure p and, therefore, the load are zero. The uniqueness of this solution is shown here. Opposite to experimental observations, the elastohydrodynamic treatment of the problem in [2] and in [3] yields non-negligible negative values of p downstream of the point of closest distance of the spheres. This shortcoming is avoided here by use of a physically justified modification of the right-hand side of Reynolds' equation. The mathematical model employed here approximates the elastic deformation by assuming a circular Hertzian contact area with constant film thickness h0 and no deformation of the spheres outside of this gap. By use of this model, the pressure distribution in the incompressible isothermal liquid film is determined predominantly explicitly and with an error estimate for a difference solution.
