Optimizing collection and delivery routes reduces fuel consumption and cost, thereby minimizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) is addressed to identify routes that minimize total transportation costs, fuel consumption, and GHG emissions based on collection and delivery activities. Firefly Algorithm (FA) integrated with Tabu Search (TS) as (FATS) was proposed within the case study concerning canned fruit transport. The results showed that the proposed method outperformed the existing approaches and reduced the fuel consumption from 31,286 to 26,314 litres per year. The proposed algorithm also reduced the number of used vehicles from seven to six, as five 6-wheel trucks and one 4-wheel truck, with transportation cost reduced from 1,061,851 to 893,108 Baht per year, as well as greenhouse gas emissions, which were reduced from 90,730 to 76,312 kg CO 2 per year.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136305319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to current strategists, strategy and structure are interrelated and should be developed in parallel. There is no definitive organizational structure of a company. Based on theories and research on the organizational structure of selected passenger rail transport organizations, it has been shown that an appropriate organizational structure is an important prerequisite for the implementation of the selected strategy. New organizational structures can provide new and interesting opportunities for managers and employees. However, these structures may pose a threat to employees due to the scale of work and, possibly, they may threaten their job. Developing new organizational structures without considering the consequences for those affected is surely inappropriate. At a time of liberalization and increasing competition, an effective organizational strategy is becoming a significant competitive advantage for rail passenger transport organizations.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135599789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the increased number of delivery vehicles has led to higher costs, traffic congestion, and carbon emissions. To tackle these negative impacts, consolidating the delivery process by combining multiple orders from different restaurants to various customers has been suggested. This study evaluates the sustainability impact of direct versus consolidated orders in the on-demand food delivery sector. To achieve the objective, we used an agent-based simulation model based on real delivery data from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Our simulation results indicate that due to constraints in time windows and routing complexity, only a small portion of all orders can be consolidated. But where consolidation is feasible, it can benefit businesses and the environment by reducing costs for customers, increasing drivers’ productivity, and reducing carbon emissions. The downside is that it may result in a longer customer waiting time. These findings provide valuable insights for businesses and policymakers seeking to promote sustainable practices in the on-demand food delivery sector.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135447600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Competition in the mentioned segment is expected to intensify. Rolling stock represents a significant cost item for railway operators. The management of the life cycle of railway rolling stock is a way to efficiently manage vehicles. Adequately chosen parameters that are monitored and evaluated during the life cycle of railway rolling stock are crucial to successful management. Logistics plays an important role in the railway vehicle life cycle management, which, when properly set up, represents a significant competitive advantage. All railway undertakings are facing challenging times due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the energy crisis. Proper and effective railway rolling stock life cycle management will help them overcome current and future challenges.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135505592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article presents a case study that simulates the effects of introducing a queue jump lane followed by a bus lane beyond an intersection compared to a dedicated lane only in the section beyond the intersection (without introducing a queue jump lane). The monitored parameters were speed and reliability of public transport. The simulation was performed using the PTV Vissim program. The case study was evaluated in terms of public transport operation, as well as selected effects on other road traffic with the aim to determine the optimal traffic engineering design and improve public transport operation in practice. This case study provides valuable insights into the effects of these priority measures. The results can contribute to the improvement of public transport operations.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136008254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As this is a relatively complex issue, road management must be understood in a holistic way, including risk assessment. The dynamics of the sector entails a considerable number of critical factors that have a direct or indirect impact on the achievement of the basic goals of infrastructure management and maintenance organization in the context of ensuring road management and mobility while respecting the basic concept of sustainability. The objective of this article is to define the critical factors of sustainable development in road management, especially in terms of ad hoc maintenance.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134882967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike other studies, the paper will focus on international comparisons of efficiency while taking account company size. The analysis is thus based on the accounting data of individual companies. The content of the analysis covers the period between 2015 and 2019. In total, companies from 20 European countries shall be analysed. The results show that the level of efficiency in this sector is related to the size of the enterprise. In general, small enterprises turn out to be the least efficient. However, there is also a difference in the level of efficiency in the different size groups of enterprises depending on their geographical location, where in general, irrespective of the size category, Ukrainian enterprises appear to perform worst.","PeriodicalId":32265,"journal":{"name":"LOGI","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136008255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
