The area was chosen because of low participation nature in community development programs among community members. The study used a descriptive design and employed the quantitative approach. A sample of 76 community stakeholders was selected out of the 94 study population through the simple random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to collect information from respondents and the following mean scores interpretation scale was used: 3.50-4.00= very high participation, 2.50-3.49 = high participation, 1.50-2.49= low participation and 1.00-1.49 = very low participation. After analysis, the study concluded that the community highly participated in the Constituency Development Catalyst Fund (CDCF) programs. Due to such desirable results, it is recommended that the government should encourage community participation to continue for effective results to be maintained. Furthermore, the parliament should take all necessary steps to make sure that the Constituency Development Catalyst Fund’s (CDCF) Act of 2009 is amended by including provisions which show clearly how the community should participate in CDCF projects in various aspects as initiation, implementation and control. This will further enhance the community development.","PeriodicalId":314775,"journal":{"name":"Volume 2 Issue 3","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125754730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study employed the Instrumental Variable (IV) technique. To gather households’ information, a questionnaire was administered to 398 households, apportioned to two groups of beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries’ households using the ratio of 1:1. Five Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and 14 Key Informants Interviews (KIIs) were conducted. Qualitative data were analysed using content analysis. Findings indicated that CT has effect on demand for roots and tubers, cereals and vegetables. Roots and tubers and cereals are staple foods in Lindi district, implying that, as the income rises, poor households demand for staple food together with its side dishes tend to increase. This increase on demand had no significant effect on reduction of food insecurity. Therefore, to further increase food demand and ultimately reduce food insecurity, the study recommends TASAF to increase the amount of money given to poor households and introduce food schemes that directly focused on tackling food insecurity.","PeriodicalId":314775,"journal":{"name":"Volume 2 Issue 3","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129521740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopted the Resource Dependency Theory (RDT) which was proposed by Pfeiffer and Salancik in 1978. Qualitative research approach was adopted and multiple case study design was employed. The study involved 18 purposefully selected participants from six study schools in the district. There were 6 heads of schools, 6 teachers and 6 students. The teachers and students included only those who were supervising IGAs’ projects in schools. Data was collected using in-depth interview, observation and documentary review methods and was analysed thematically. The findings indicate that different income generating activities performed differently. The income generating activities which performed well included bananas, horticulture, forestry, fish and cow farming, poultry project and stationery services. Others were school shops and petrol station activities. The study revealed that there were different factors that contributed to better performance which included, among other things, the hiring of skilled personnel and close monitoring of the projects. On the other hand, goat farming and coffee farming did not do well due to diseases and fluctuation of prices in the market, respectively. Hence, the study recommends the need for provision of knowledge and skills on IGAs to students, heads of school and teachers for a fruitful operation, hence improving teaching and learning environment in schools.","PeriodicalId":314775,"journal":{"name":"Volume 2 Issue 3","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125600617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
