However, a major disaster in the form of a pandemic occurs once in a century. The models made for disaster preparedness are untested for such a calamity. The publication of a vulnerability index for the states in India proclaimed that the same can be applicable to COVID-19 too. The evolving pandemic in a vast geographic area such as India has not been predicable to a great extent. The vulnerability index was subjected to spatial regression and the vulnerability index was found to be lacking in significance at this stage of the pandemic.
