The technique is partly a synthesis tool in that it allows to identify some geometrical properties of the structure from the relationships between various coefficients of the GSM. These relationships are cast into a formalism that simplifies and generalizes the development of many previously reported results. We also apply the technique to various structures for the purpose of demonstrating its use and validity. When this technique is applied to Linear or circular polarizers with the GSM incorporating only the dominant mode, we find that ideal polarizers are possible only at normal incidence, regardless of their specific physical realizations. Similarly, we find that a structure corresponding to the reciprocal circular polarization selective surface must satisfy the property of 2-fold rotational symmetry, except in a limited neighborhood of the normal incidence where the property of reciprocity suffices, and must not satisfy the property of longitudinal reflection symmetry.","PeriodicalId":280741,"journal":{"name":"1996 Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1996-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128237438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Absorbing Clamp is a simple, repeatable test which requires less investment in time and cost than Open Field Site testing, which is the main alternative. During an engineering phase of the product development stage, repeated testing is done to assess the impact of design modifications on system performance. Successful use of the Absorbing Clamp during product development, to evaluate the impact of design modifications on system radiated electromagnetic emissions, is demonstrated. Test results confirm that the Absorbing Clamp is a repeatable and inexpensive test method for EMC engineering on small systems.","PeriodicalId":280741,"journal":{"name":"1996 Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1996-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132538081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
