Their development into a coherent and effective movement came only gradually and with very little support by the official Catholic Church. In fact, at the beginning of the 20th century only a handful of middle-level pastors and administrators saw considerable value in lay men assuming preaching and teaching roles that typically had been reserved to priests or to well trained and approved (by the Church) laity.","PeriodicalId":273821,"journal":{"name":"Christianity eJournal - Forthcoming","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116775713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Catholic Social Thought (CST) sees the corporation as a community of persons. It has an existence (a life and ability to operate) of its own and is oriented to the good of its participants. This view is contrasted with the nexus of contracts approach, Williamson's Transaction Cost Economics approach and some types of stakeholder theory. It is contended that CST's approach is more realistic.","PeriodicalId":273821,"journal":{"name":"Christianity eJournal - Forthcoming","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131567749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is even more relevant when ‘institutionalised’ religion, in the form of a religious Mission, becomes the main channel for the so-cialisation and intergenerational identity transmission among families of immigrant origin.
