Methodism is not a cult of John Wesley; it is a whole new vision of Christianity. While it clearly bears the imprint of John Wesley and the early leaders, it had to develop the doctrinal and intellectual resources to carry it across space and time. Its initial message was certainly furnished by Wesley, but it was not limited to Wesley.
