However, the drugs that are often used are off-label antiviral drugs. The research design used is an umbrella review that identifies, assesses and interprets all findings on a systematic review and meta-analysis research topic. This umbrella review research involved 76 studies and 871,985 COVID-19 patients. Statins, colchicine, aspirin and siltuximab are associated with a reduced risk of mortality in COVID-19 patients, but siltuximab has the side effects of cytopenias, infections and hypersensitivity reactions. Remdesivir and umifenovir have the side effect of diarrhea, while ribavirin has the side effect of severe bradycardia in COVID-19 patients. Anakinra, oseltamivir, umifenovir, azithromycin, interferon beta and favipiravir are ineffective and have no significant benefit. Meanwhile, treating COVID-19 with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combined with conventional medicine has excellent results, efficacy, and safety effects. Only Jinhua qinggan granule (JHQG) has side effects in the form of mild diarrhea. Further research is needed regarding the concentration of TCM administered to COVID-19 patients, both children and adults.","PeriodicalId":269319,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health Research","volume":"30 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141385142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If it is not prepared properly during cooking the cyanide present in it will interfere with body functions. The cyanide is metabolized into thiocyanate by the liver. Thiocyanate has been shown to interact with the blood pressure and thyroid function. Objectives: The objectives of the study are to observe the variation in physiology of the human body due to the effect of low dose cyanide in diet on the blood pressure and thyroid function. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was conducted in the department of General Medicine out-patient department of a tertiary care hospital of central Kerala. This research was conducted after obtaining ethical clearance from the institutional ethical committee. The blood pressure of each subject was recorded. The fasting TSH values of each subject were determined. Results: There were no significant changes in the systolic blood pressure in hypothyroid group (p=0.288) and hyperthyroid group (p=0.915). There were no significant changes in diastolic blood pressure in hypothyroid group (p=0.270) and in hyperthyroid group (p=0.813). There was significant difference in TSH values in the hypothyroid group (p=0.001) and in the hyperthyroid group (p=0.001) compared to the matched controls. Conclusions: The above study did not show significant changes in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to matched controls. These findings are unusual since thyroid dysfunction is known to cause increase in blood pressure as seen in various other studies. This means low dose cyanide in diet in a population with cassava as staple food might be protective from hypertension and is good for the cardiovascular system. There was significant increase in TSH values in the hypothyroid group. There was significant decrease in TSH values in hyperthyroid group. These findings are comparable with the values obtained in other studies.","PeriodicalId":269319,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health Research","volume":"122 44","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140679208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design aims to determine the factors related to the healthy behavior of post-stroke sufferers in Banda Aceh City. Sampling was carried out by incidental sampling of 95 post-stroke sufferers who sought outpatient treatment at the Neurology Polyclinic and Medical Rehabilitation Polyclinic at Meuraxa General Hospital, Banda Aceh City. Data collection was obtained through interviews conducted from February 16 to March 10 2023. Data analysis used the logistic regression test. The research results show that as many as 60% of post-stroke sufferers have unhealthy behavior. This unhealthy behavior of post-stroke sufferers is associated with middle smoking status (OR=84.70; 95%CI=2.19-3282.15; p=0.017), low education (OR=7646.98; 95%CI=39, 32-1487138.0; p=0.001), secondary education (OR=248.91; 95%CI= 2.67-23225.21; p=0.017). Low education level is the most dominant factor related to unhealthy behavior, so it is hoped that health workers will provide education about unhealthy behavior and its consequences for poststroke sufferers and carry out regular monitoring and motivate patients to achieve their goals for recovery.","PeriodicalId":269319,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health Research","volume":"2012 34","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140246357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In antiquity, the Greeks and the Romans knew that it contained a deadly poison. In medieval times, it was widely used by witches, sorcerors and professional poisoners. Linnaeus later codified its remarkable properties as the genus Atropa, the Fate that slits the thin spun life and the species belladonna because of its power to dilate the pupils. In the 1830s, the pure alkaloid l-atropine was isolated from the plant. This proved to be a significant tool in the study of the autonomic nervous system leading to the identification of acetylcholine as an important neurotransmitter in mammals.","PeriodicalId":269319,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health Research","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115913507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plantago majorL. (also known as plantain and way bread) is a member of the Plantaginaceae family. Leaves and seeds of the plant have been widely used in folk medicine for various purposes, including treatment of an extensive range of diseases and disorders such as respiratory complications and digestive system affections. It has been also used in wound healing and as an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antitumor agent. Moreover, plantain contains ingredients which can neutralize internal and external poisons. Recent studies have also shown its anti-fatigue properties. Phytochemical analysis of P. major extract has indicated that this plant contains a wide range of chemicals such as polysaccharides, lipids (saturated and non-saturated), amino acids (essential and non-essential), caffeic acid derivatives, flavonoids, iridoidglycosides and terpenoids, which have the potential to exert different biological effects. Phenols (ferulic acid), flavonoids and tannins have the highest amount in Plantagoleaves. The present review describes the traditional uses and recent findings(Since 2000 till date) about the pharmacological effects of Plantago major L.","PeriodicalId":269319,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health Research","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131660842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
