The present paper gives first an overview of nonverbal communication (NVC), the importance of which has been fully accounted for by communication theorists. The paper has put forward a new definition of NVC and presented the view that NVC covers four aspects: the use of time and space, bodily behaviors, sound behaviors and environmental language. The paper has also discussed the characteristics and functions of NVC.","PeriodicalId":260601,"journal":{"name":"Understanding Nonverbal Communication","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127873248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
