Business firms are constantly striving for retention of their customers. Owing to the fact that a reneging customers may be convinced to stay in the queueing system for his service if some customer retention mechanism is employed, the probability of retaining a reneging customer is introduced into the finite capacity Markovian queueing models with customers impatience. Various queueing models with discouraged input, balking, feedback customers, and heterogeneous servers are studied which find their application in computer-communication, insurance business, banks, and in restaurants. The probable effect of this probability on different performance measures is studied. It is found that expected system size (Ls) increases with the increase in probability of retaining a reneging customer. The cost models are also made for various queueing models considered in the thesis and it is observed that with the increase in probability of retaining a reneging customer the total expected revenue (TER) of the system increases. Thus, the functioning of the models studied in this thesis is verified by numerical results. The results obtained throughout the thesis may be quite useful to the businesses like banks, restaurants, insurance etc. In future, we shall extend these models to infinite capacity case. The transient analysis and optimization aspects will also be considered. We suggest that she accomplished this feat because of her ability to rely on embedded (Granovetter 1985; Uzzi 1996) network contacts that allowed her to bridge structural holes (Burt 1992) and link with people with whom she was not previously linked (Lin et al., 2001).
