Handoff is a critical issue in IEEE 802.11b based wireless networks. When a mobile node (MN) moves away from the range of its current access point (AP) it needs to perform a link layer handoff. This causes data loss and interruption in communication. According to IEEE 802.11b link layer2 (L2) handoff consists of three phases – scanning, authentication and re-association. Scanning process delay is 90% of the total handoff delay. So in this paper we propose a better scanning mechanism to reduce handoff latency. Using GPS we determine the direction of velocity of the MN as well as position. It reduces the time to find the closest and best AP among all neighbor APs. This process effectively reduces the handoff latency.","PeriodicalId":232726,"journal":{"name":"Networking and Communication Engineering","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116071148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As sensors have limited power, any security mechanism for the sensor network must be energy efficient. In this work we propose an energy efficient secure routing for wireless sensor networks based on dynamic key cryptography. We propose a Weight Based AODV protocol for the routing process in which the weight of a route is decided by four factors: the speed of nodes, the power level of battery and the Bandwidth. The sensor nodes are organized into clusters and a cluster head is elected within each cluster. Communication between sensor and the sink takes place at the three levels: sensor→cluster-head→sink. A new key management scheme for wireless sensor networks is used to reduce the memory and communication overhead, and improve the security of the network. Results obtained by a simulation campaign show that WBAODV has some important advantages that makes it a valuable candidate to be particularly suitable in environments where fast communication establishment and minimum signalling overhead are requested. Also simulation results show the improvement of the network performance, in terms of Throughput, Energy, and Hop Count, through use of the new routing algorithm.","PeriodicalId":232726,"journal":{"name":"Networking and Communication Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128866892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various inputs like user name, age of the user and the no of tourist to be travelled and the no of days and the destination place has to be given as input by the user. The system will automatically take the input weather condition online automatically and gives the output report as whether the tourist destination will be suitable for the user or not. For example if the user family consists of children and elders then if the place is too cold or hot then it will give the report as not suitable. This will help the users to find the exact destination places suitable for them. To get access to weather API you need an API key whatever account you chose from Free to Enterprise. We keep right to not to process API requests without API key.
