{"title":"Constructivism","authors":"İbrahim Sözcü","doi":"10.4135/9781483375519.n148","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4135/9781483375519.n148","url":null,"abstract":"In this chapter, there is a philosophical analysis of constructivism, which is the product of postmodern understanding and is the most debated educational trend of the last period. In the first section, constructivism is analyzed in the light of ontological and epistemological foundations, and its relation with the subjectivist understanding of science is revealed. In the second part, the possibilities offered by constructivism in terms of educational practice are discussed. The focus of the study is to identify the intersections of all discourses on constructivism and to explain them based on these intersections. In order to bring the discussion to a philosophical ground, the authors believe that addressing the issue in an epistemological and ontological context will provide the philosophical essence of constructivist theory.","PeriodicalId":232066,"journal":{"name":"United Nations peace operations and International Relations theory","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126777826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
