The reason is that a mouse is really only half an input device - the other half being the surface the mouse is operated on, such as a mouse pad. In this demo, we demonstrate how to combine a mouse and a mouse pad into soap, a device that can be operated in mid air with a single hand. We have used soap to control video games, interact with wall displays and Windows Media Center, and to give slide presentations.","PeriodicalId":225362,"journal":{"name":"ACM SIGGRAPH 2007 emerging technologies","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128585147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Not just on a small stage, but in an expansive environment. Not the fine details of movement of individuals, but the gross patterns of a population. Not the identifying biometrics, but patterns of group behavior that evolve from the structure of the environment and the points of interest embedded in that structure.
