The present research has been carried out to provide empirical-based handful information to the small scale entrepreneurs and policymakers about the impact of the adoption of the LLP model and how it can be used as a strategy to make the venture successful. For this study sample data analyzed to determine the correlation between the choice of business organization and output level of firms by taking capital and labor as independent variables. Since LLP is considered more entrepreneurial friendly to small and medium-sized firms, entrepreneurial expertise to utilize capital and labor before and after the adoption of the LLP form has been specifically investigated. This Existing research supports the economic theory of limited liability and probability to choose limited liability while the present study is focused on determining the efficiency, if any, achieved by adoption of limited liability model by the small business firms. By using the Cobb-Douglas model the article analyses the efficiency derived from the adoption of a limited liability model. The empirical results show that entrepreneurs have gained achieved efficiency through the adoption of LLP model. The entrepreneurs under the LLP model can pool and efficiently utilize capital as compared to labor employed. Thus for entrepreneurial growth and economic development business organization models like LLP should be encouraged and must be adopted as a business strategy to minimize risk exposure.","PeriodicalId":223014,"journal":{"name":"Other Entrepreneurship Research & Policy eJournal","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121597118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Serial entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson entered the commercial spaceflight business in 2004 with a deal under which Virgin Galactic would license the technology behind SpaceShipOne to take customers into suborbital space. The company has been through eventful years, including a fatal accident, delays in the launch, and struggling financial health. Virgin Galactic remains committed to the world’s first operational and profitable private space tourism company. In his role as the company’s errant, adventure-seeking brand ambassador, Virgin Galactic and Branson face interrelated marketing, business model, and financial problems. Branson faces the challenge of keeping his promising company alive, which has not generated revenues since its inception. Branson has taken several measures under current economic situations to raise the much-needed cash to keep his ambitious entrepreneurial venture functional. In June 2020, Virgin Galactic announced a deal with NASA to support and train the private astronauts for spaceflights. The case encourages students to analyze the multifaceted challenges and dilemmas in an emancipated entrepreneurial initiative. This case study’s potential audience is upper-division undergraduate business and MBA students attending entrepreneurship, marketing, or finance courses. Students in leadership and organizational behavior courses might also benefit from the case study.","PeriodicalId":223014,"journal":{"name":"Other Entrepreneurship Research & Policy eJournal","volume":"110 27","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120824245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we estimate the association between student debt and self-employment using data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation merged with administrative data on employment histories. Our results suggest that student debt is associated with lower levels of self-employment for men, with a particularly pronounced effect on men becoming primarily self-employed. In contrast, women with substantial amounts of student debt are no more or less likely to become self-employed than are women with no student debt. These findings suggest that student debt may be part of the explanation for lower self-employment rates among younger adults, and they provide additional evidence that on average male and female self-employment behavior remain distinct.","PeriodicalId":223014,"journal":{"name":"Other Entrepreneurship Research & Policy eJournal","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131687212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

NewSpace revolution is happening right now, and the businesses, including well-funded companies as well as the new startups, are building-up on the newfound energy, which has made the sector innovative and democratic. While NewSpace has seen an emergence in the European region, the entrepreneurial success in the United States with private and public funding still outshines the rest of the world. The problem is that there is a lack of understanding within the European NewSpace ecosystem in identifying and describing NewSpace entrepreneurship activities. These ventures are undertaken by serial entrepreneurs using the constructs and framework of the emancipation perspective. The purpose of this embedded-case study is to examine how the entrepreneurs apply the emancipated-entrepreneurship approach and to discuss potential policy recommendations aimed at strengthening emancipated entrepreneurship within the European NewSpace. The study was approached through an in-depth examination of the emancipated entrepreneurship perspective as applied by Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic while developing a space tourism business model. The focus is on Branson’s emancipatory perspective that led to the launching of a new business that faced extremely high uncertainties. The embedded unit of analysis is on the actual activities undertaken by Branson that demonstrated the application of the critical elements of emancipatory entrepreneurship – “seeking autonomy,” “authoring,” and “making declarations.” Branson and Virgin Galactic’s emancipatory entrepreneurial drive proved to be positive for the NewSpace ecosystem as new business models were unveiled apart from technological advancements. The insights from this case study can be used to methodically trigger an emancipatory perspective in entrepreneurs interested in launching NewSpace business, reconsider or enhance related government policies as well as incentives, and develop new management practices, especially in the context of startups or intrapreneurial projects in the NewSpace domain.","PeriodicalId":223014,"journal":{"name":"Other Entrepreneurship Research & Policy eJournal","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121164480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper I focus on the differences in new German manufacturing plants' location choices across the German district-free cities and districts and investigate its regional determinants. For that purpose, I construct a novel, rich regional- and firm-level dataset based on the Official Firm Statistics from the German Federal Statistical Office and the Offices of the Laender. The analysis provides first time evidence how in particular the location decision of firms in the German economy is influenced by regional road infrastructure as well as regional structural funding. The effects are economically important and significant. The results reveal that a 10 percent increase in firm agglomeration increases the odds of a new plant to locate in the region by 12 percent. A 10 percent decrease of travel time on roads increases the odds of a plant to locate by 4 percent in overall Germany, by 7.6 percent among East German regions and by 26.5 percent in particular for large plants in the East German regions. A 10 percent larger population increases the odds to locate by 8.7 percent. A 10 percent increase in regional structural funding for infrastructure purposes increases the odds to locate in a region in East Germany by 8.3 percent in particular for large plants. Policy implications emerge that address in particular the improvement of infrastructure and support to reap off benefits that arise from agglomeration externalities.","PeriodicalId":223014,"journal":{"name":"Other Entrepreneurship Research & Policy eJournal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125767917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
