The knowledge and skills required from teachers to enable digital learning in their subjects are all too often discussed from a general pedagogical perspective. The article argues that it is necessary to reflect the implications of digitization from a didactic perspective. For this purpose, it extends the model of the professional competence of politics teachers (Oberle, Weschenfelder & Weißeno, 2012) with the TPACK model from Mishra & Koehler (2006) and thus attempts to determine the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching civic education nowadays. This is illustrated through four examples showing the interdependence of subject matter content knowledge, pedagogy, didactics and technology. Based on this, the potentials for teacher education at universities are discussed.","PeriodicalId":214330,"journal":{"name":"Inverted Classroom - Past, Present & Future","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121153658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"11 Das Flipped Lab als ICM-Adaption für naturwissenschaftliche Laborpraktika","authors":"Dirk Burdinski","doi":"10.5771/9783828874510-107","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5771/9783828874510-107","url":null,"abstract":"Laboratories play an important role in the undergraduate science curriculum. The effectiveness of learning in laboratory courses depends strongly on student engagement in required pre-lab activities designed to provide them with the theoretical and technical background for being able to develop a deeper understanding of the practical experiments as well as to act adequately and independently in the actual lab situation, such that the development of higher level competences can occur. Through an adaption of the principles of inverted (or flipped) learning to the requirements of educational scientific laboratories, the focus of these courses shifts towards the pre-lab phase thereby reducing the cognitive load on students during actual lab time. Supporting pre-lab activities with engaging and task-specific visual and auditory information in an interactive multimedia learning environment helps students to adopt and process relevant information and to build pertinent pre-knowledge. A positive side effect is a generally increased student and teacher satisfaction with the learning experience in laboratory courses.","PeriodicalId":214330,"journal":{"name":"Inverted Classroom - Past, Present & Future","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125124683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
