For a long time, humans have been considered the pinnacle of evolution: that humanity has achieved its evolutionary peak and has nothing to evolve into. Today those who try to foresee the future of mankind and his evolution are thinking of cyborg image, a combination of a biological creature and a technological masterpiece. Electronics world is progressing at a very fast rate and today there are many revolutionary ideas, projects already underway that will end up being traded tomorrow or in a few years. The three authors, specialized in electronic field, predict that with the unprecedented development of electronics, there will be also a major change of paradigm in medicine, security, transportation, as well as in industrial business and marketing arena.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128985256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In modern sense of geopolitics, a welfare state has to ensure easy access of public to basic amenities which include medical facilities. However, the areas, off mainland, usually stay deprived of quality medical services. This is generally the case in third world countries, including Pakistan. Here, due to lack of education and poverty, the suburban or countryside population remains ignorant of available qualified doctors. Everybody does not afford travelling to the nearest main city hospital. Those who afford sometimes experience extreme frustration at absence of their desired medic. In order to assist the deprived, the authors have developed a mobile-based appointment system for remote patients. This application not only helps in requesting appointments with doctors, but lets the android mobile user search the list of quality medics around. The details related to the use and effectiveness of this application have been discussed in the main chapter.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121826567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The requirements of P.L. 94-142, now the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA), are explained in this chapter. Additionally, school districts are required to provide students with disabilities assistive technologies. Twenty-first century classrooms are now using Apple's iPad on a regular basis, with all students, in place of other assistive technologies. Apple's App Store offers numerous applications that can be used by students with disabilities. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a review of special education laws in the United States, while offering educators, parents, and specialists an overview of applications that have been developed for a variety of disabilities. Each application is categorized and briefly explained. The cost and compatibility with Apple devices is also provided.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131937449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Contrarily, a little anxiety or worry may upset the peace of mind and body, leading to faster heartbeat, taut muscles, high or low blood pressure, abnormal hormone secretion, and over sweating. These are the common symptoms of stress. These may, in turn, lead to serious health issues, as well as psychological disorders, such as insomnia (sleeplessness), anger, and tendency to commit suicide. Nowadays the ratio of suicide is on the increase on a day-to-day scale. To overcome all these problems, and cater to human right to enjoy an environment of peace and quiet for better mental and physical performance, the authors have developed an Android-based offline, multi-functional mobile application: Relax Player App. It panoramically arrays natural sounds, animal sounds, instrumental music, white noise, and brain soothing melodies to relax and freshen up user's ears and mind. It also has in-built mechanism to create one's own melody by mixing these sounds, adding to its appeal.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129951119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We are witnessing a significant increase in demand for technologies and m-health applications. Apart from producing relevant improvements in life quality, the launch of platforms facilitating the transition between doctors, consumers, and companies operating within the biological science sector has led us to a community-based health, which is assimilated in the daily lives of consumers. The widespread use of devices and the rapid access to health assistance are an opportunity to revolutionize the industry. Thanks to mobile technologies capable of implementing the ubiquitous health, the right to health becomes real, which in turn allows a high-quality healthcare supply with reduced costs.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133131535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Had it not been for this fact, there wouldn't have been any laws, law enforcement bodies, system of justice, and any question of good governance and government. Apart from these highly sophisticated means for protection of human safety in terms of physical security including health, economic security, and social security, there have been other systems in place for safety purposes. These include home, shop, or office automation, deployment of security staff, installation of CCTV cameras, buying insurance policies, and so on. However, each of these measures costs great money to the security seeker. The system presented in this chapter, based on human (and/or animal) detection using passive infrared radial (PIR) sensor and mobile technology, is a cost-effective security solution to those who cannot afford large investments in their personal and property safety.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115053965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the modes of tackling the menace has changed and gained momentum by many degrees. With advances in technology, these modes have assumed the semblance of a technological crusade for the cause of women rights. Pakistan, a patriarchal society to the core, has not been behind others in the use of smart technology for socio-economic safety and empowerment of women. Some of these efforts are directly sponsored by government; others are the initiatives by individuals and companies in private capacity. Though different in form and shape, these measures have a common goal to empower women socio-economically, give them necessary technical training, and/or stand by them when justice is impeded. The current chapter throws light on the spectrum of work being done to use technology as a vehicle to curb incidence of violation of women rights, strengthen women, and help them live honorably.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124944281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such devices are sold with several apps bundled as pre-installed software, such as a web browser, email client, calendar, mapping program, and an app for buying music or other media or more apps. Apps that are not preinstalled are usually available through distribution platforms called app stores such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store, and BlackBerry App World, etc. Usage of mobile apps has become increasingly prevalent across mobile phone users in the world. A recent study reported that during the previous quarter, more mobile subscribers used apps than browsed the web on their devices. Thus, a mobile application can aid in the prosecution of human rights violations, atrocities, human trafficking, and child laboring. In this chapter, authors provide a comprehensive study, design patterns, usage of several mobile applications designed for protecting human rights.","PeriodicalId":204172,"journal":{"name":"Mobile Devices and Smart Gadgets in Human Rights","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124049111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
