Mobile ad hoc networks are highly dynamic topology natured and hence several routing protocols meet the challenge of link quality, delay and energy conscious routing. This paper proposes a secured link quality, delay and energy conscious routing approach based on ant colony optimization. Based on the estimated link quality, delay and residual energy of the nearby nodes, Adaptive node stability (ANS) mechanism is mathematically modeled to make the routing strategy. SLQDEARP selects the efficient node based on the ANS mechanism and sends the data packets through that node. Ad-hoc security algorithms incorporated for making the transmission more secured. Simulation results show that SLQDEARP increases delay, energy consumption and packet delivery ratio than AODV and DECRP protocol due to security mechanism incorporated.","PeriodicalId":199152,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Intelligent Interactive Systems and Assistive Technologies","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122574572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While the main aspire of such courses is to give students practical industry-relevant “software engineering in the large” familiarity, frequently such courses plummet short of this significant intention owed to be short of industrial experience and support infrastructure, degenerating the course into “one big coding assignment”. Therefore, it is obligatory to design and develop improved infrastructure support for teaching or taking such courses. This would benefit instructors and students communities in computer science atmosphere. Learning analytics lend a hand to the learners to enhance their learning tricks. This was scrutinized among the software engineering students how the learning style and learning engagement sways in gathering knowledge. This paper discusses the importance of learning analytics in software engineering education especially the learning style, learning engagement and its influences in this domain.","PeriodicalId":199152,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Intelligent Interactive Systems and Assistive Technologies","volume":"56 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120984790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quadriplegia is a medical condition characterized by partial or complete paralysis of the four limbs and torso. Paraplegia is a variant of quadriplegia where only waist downwards is non-functional. An assistive solution for mobility of people under these situations is discussed in this work. The aim of which is at achieving a cost effective control unit. The module proposed for the purpose can be incorporated as a separate unit into a wheel chair thus, customized. The paper discusses the methodology used and the hardware components of the prototype which was arrived at. The unit was programmed using an Arduino platform.","PeriodicalId":199152,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Intelligent Interactive Systems and Assistive Technologies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134429679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Initially the portion of the meter where the reading is actually located is captured by placing the camera in a fixed position in front of the meter. The image of the meter is captured in certain series of time interval. The input image converted to grayscale image and it is enhanced using image enhancement techniques. The image is then converted to the binary image by removing the connected components by using Adaptive Thresholding (AT), for the grayscale image. Then the Morphological operation on binary image is performed as to produce an enhanced binary image. The image is scanned horizontally until the white pixel is encountered and the resultant image is stored in an array matrix. Then the resultant image is segmented by Vertical Edge Detection Algorithm and each segmented image is stored in an individual array matrix. Each image is then compared with the actual template and the result is stored in the text file. It compared with the Vertical Edge Detection Algorithm to the Sobel operator in terms of accuracy, algorithm complexity, and processing time. The results show accurate edge detection performance and faster processing than Sobel by five to nine times.","PeriodicalId":199152,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Intelligent Interactive Systems and Assistive Technologies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125675025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Erb's Palsy relates to a handicap wherein the brachial plexus nerve next to the neck is stretched causing the immobilization of the hand. In such situations writing feels like a distant dream. In order to help such patients, this device was made which provides a firm grip between the fingers, mainly the thumb and the index finger to hold a pen or a writing instrument firmly. On adjusting the arm on a support and on shifting the mechanical system left or right with the feet causes the movement of the book from one side to another which requires no mobilization of the arm and causes less strain to the hands and thus helping in accomplishing writing.","PeriodicalId":199152,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Intelligent Interactive Systems and Assistive Technologies","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134294908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data collection, interpretation and dissemination of the status to multiple users are performed remotely. We have used embedded sensors available in smartphones to gather data from traffic instead of deploying sensor modules. This method reduces the overall cost since smartphones are equipped with mobile data connection, precise sensors, high processing power and widely adopted by users. The methods of measurement of vehicular speed and distance traversed using the inbuilt GPS sensor, are discussed in detail. We have defined the parameters based on which the status of the traffic can be judged and how these parameters are related to vehicular distance and speed. Along with these, we have proposed a client-server architecture for dissemination of data from the smartphone to the server and vice versa. The client is an application running on the smartphones. We have also proposed advanced methods of data accumulation and dissemination for modern vehicles with improved facilities and infrastructure. The entire system is developed in Android since it is open source in nature, widely used and application development is relatively facilitating.","PeriodicalId":199152,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Intelligent Interactive Systems and Assistive Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129615570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
