Hill, Sarah Knox","doi":"10.2307/j.ctv11hpv1q.12","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2307/j.ctv11hpv1q.12","url":null,"abstract":"Chapter 8 concludes the book and lists its contributions to the understanding of Romanian DOM: (i) DOM data should be assessed separately for each DOM mechanism; (ii) the diachrony of DOM conforms to a general pattern of changes noticed for other parametric settings in Romanian grammar; (iii) the diachrony of DOM requires a typological perspective that considers not only the Romance DOM pattern (as in previous studies) but also the Balkan DOM; (iv) DOM triggers (i.e., the particularizing and topicality features) are mapped to D in Romanian (versus v in Spanish); (v) Romanian DOM completely conforms to the specificity/definiteness scales (albeit the contrary remarks in previous studies).
